T: There is one of the survivors. Whats his name?S: Timmy.T: Would you like to ask some questions about that earthquake? ( Ask a volunteer to be Timmy, and the interviewer)Sample:S1: Hello, Timmy. Im Fred, from Beijing Sunshine Secondary School.S2: Hello, Fred.S1: Where were you when the earthquake started?S2: I was doing shopping in a shopping center.S1: What did you feel at first?S2: I felt a slight shaking through my body. Lets talk about the weather this time.Step III PresentationThis activity presents the new vocabulary and leads to the knowledge of word-building.1. Show a beautiful picture of the sun. T: Whats this? S: Its the sun.T: Whats the weather like?S: Its sunny. Write down “sun” and “ sunny” on the Bb, repeat the words2. Present the other seven pairs of words in the same way. Read them aloud.3. Ask Ss to complete Part A on Page 98.4. Ask them work out the rules about changing a noun about weather into an adjective. Remind Ss: T: When we change “sun” into “sunny”, we must double “n”. And “fog” to “foggy”, we must double “g”. Step IV CompetitionThis activity helps Ss remember the new vocabulary quickly in class.Divide the class into two groups, each group will spell four pairs of new words according to the pictures on the screen. The group which uses the less the time is the winner. Present the eight pictures one by one. Write down the time for each group on the black board.Step V PractiseThis activity provides oral and written practice using the target language.Get the Ss to complete Part B in written and ask some pairs to read the conversation, check the answers at the same time.
