Task –based teaching method Teaching aids Multimedia computer. Pictures Teaching Procedures PeriodⅠ: Ⅰ.Lead in 1. T:  we all have a home. But do you stay at home all the time? Of course not. From time to time, we go to different places. And how do we get to different places? Well, that is what we will learn in this class— using transportation. 2.   Show some pictures about transportation: bus, car, boat, plane, train, on foot, (walk), bike, motorbike, and subway, and get the students to name them. (It’s natural to cut in logically like this.  Pictures demonstrated on the computer screen can successfully catch students’ interest.) II. Presentation Help the students find the correct verbs that go with the names of transportations to form verb phrases. 1. T: you see, we have so many kinds of transportation. How do we decide on which to use? Ss : (discuss and give their answers.) T: (conclude) well, basically, it depends on how far we are from the place. (stress how far) 2. Ss discuss how to choose transportations according to distance. a. When the place we are going is near, we can walk or ride a bike b. When it is a little far (but still in your city or province), we can take a bus, take a car or take a subway. c. When it is very far(in another province or country), we can take a train, take a ship or take a plane. 3.      (Two ways of answering how to go to a place) How do you get to different places? ① take a bus.                               ② by bus.          a train                                        train          a car                                         car          a plane                                       plane          a subway                                     subway   ride a bike                                            bike   walk                                               on foot ( Discussion basing on real life makes the presentation well reasoned. ) III. Oral practice 1.      T: I come to school five days a week. Because my home is a little far from school, I take a bus every day (I get to school by bus). How about you? How do you get to school? ----How do you get to school?  ----  I take a bus to school. / I get to school by bus. 2. Ss work in pairs, ask and answer: How do you get to school? 2.      Get several pairs to present their conversations. When a pair finishes, point to the student who gives the answer and ask the class: How does he/she get to school? (Oral practice focus on the repetition of the target language. Repetition helps to polish the students speaking and give them better impression of the target language.) IV. Do section A1a. 1.      Look at the picture and write down the way of transportation. 2.      Ss read the phrases together. V. Listen to the tape and finish 1b. VI. Make conversations with your partner. 1.      Students work in pairs again to talk as the model does. 2.      Have several pairs demonstrate their conversations.1c VII .Listen and complete the chart   How ?
