Lead-in 1.Teacher ask: In winter, where will the birds fly? In spring, where will the birds fly back? 2.Show the eight directions . Step 2. Practice Show pictures for students to talk about where the places are. Show the map of China to Describe where the provinces are. Step3. Presentation The teacher says: The students will have a trip. 1. Find the places they plan to visit after listening. 2. Talk about the transport to school. Ask student’s to make dialogue like this: S1: Is your home far from our school? S2: No. It’s north of the school, about ten miles away. S1: How do you come to school? S2: I come to school by… Step 4. Practice Listen to Part B and answer these questions. Where are they going for the trip? Where’s the zoo? How will they get there? 2.Practice the dialogue and then make a similar dialogue with the partner. S1: Where’s Sunshine Park? S2: It’s north-east of our school. S3: Let’s go there. S2: OK. S1: How can we get there? S2: We can get there by bus/on foot. Step 5 Comic strip Show the cartoons for students. Ask: 1.Where are Hobo and Eddie? 2. Can Eddie go down the hill? 3. What does the sign say? Let Ss practice the dialogue and act it out. Step 6. Discussion Group work: Make a dialogue about how to get to your home. Step 7. Consolidation do some exercises and check the answers. Step 8. Homework 1. Read the dialogues. 2. Complete the exercises in your workbook. 3. Preview reading. Students watch the pictures and share the answers together. Learn to describe the directions in our daily life. Listen and fill in the boxes in Part A. Talk about in pairs. Take an active part in the class activity and practice speaking English. Watch the cartoons carefully and answer the questions. Read the dialogue and try to act it out in pairs. Discuss in groups.
