Chapter 1 A Letter from a pen friend Reading 1
教学目标:1. Review names of some different kinds of ball games.
Learn the property and the form of a letter.
2. Mainly talk about the ball games and the letters.
3. Learn to communicate with people.

教学过程
Presentation:
What kinds of sports do you like best? What ball games are you the best at?
First collect the answers as many as possible. If the students don’t know the English for the games, give help to them. Then ask the students to write the names of the ball games that they can write in English. And learn the new words in this period. Fill in the names in the box on page 2.
Sometimes we’d like to share our ideas with our friends or penfriends. Do you have a penfriend? Do you often write to your friends or your penfriends? What is an English letter like? Look at B1 and B2 carefully and choose your own answers. Then the whole class discuss what the correct answers are.
Knowing the English forms of letters are, fill in the blanks on page 3, also the students can get help either from the teacher or from the students around them if they need help.
Practice:
Read the three lines of words above the letter, try to know what a postal code is in foreign countries and what what Sidney’s postal code is. The answer is NE6 4BY.
Listen to the tape without your books if you can catch the recording or with your books if you can’t. While you are listening, try to catch the main idea of the letter.
For the second time, look at your books and listen, mark the new words that you have at the same time.
Learn the new words in the letter together.
Drill:
After listening for twice, do the exercises D, E1 and E2 on page 5 and page 6 to check if you have mainly understood the idea of the letter.
Homework:
1. Copy and remember the new words .
2. Copy the sentences on Page 6 and translate them.
3. Read the letter carefully and mark the problems that you have.
