Period 2 Reading 1 Teaching aims: 1.Get a general impression of BSSS 2.Guess what the general meaning of the words are from looking at pictures and keywords. Teaching focus: To use verbs and nouns to talk about leisure activities. Teaching difficulties: To use English to describe school activities. Teaching procedures: Step 1 Revision 1.Ask and answer :When do you get up every morning? When do you have breakfast ? etc. 2. Free talk T: Now ,please take out your diary and try to talk about your daily activities briefly. Step 2 Pre--task activities 1.Brainstorming (1) Do you get up early every morning? (2) Do you like your school? Why? (3) Is your school big or small? (4) Are there any trees in your school ? (5) What class are you in? (6) What do you often do at school? 2. Listening :Books closed! T: Here is an E--mail from Millie to her new e--friend Tommy. Listen first ,and try to answer the question: What are her favourite lesson? (Chinese and English) Step 3 During --task activities Mini--task1 Skimming Read the passage and answer the questions Books open ! 1.Ask students to read the passage on page 20 quickly and try to get some information about it. 2. Do "T" or "F" exercises. (1) This e--mail is from Millie to Tommy. (2) There are less than 1800 Ss in Millie's school. (3) Amy is Millie's best friend. (4) Amy is a member of the Reading Club. Mini--task2 Scanning Read again and do wh--questions 1.How many students are there in BSSS. 2.What class is Millie in? 3.Why does she like her classroom? 4.What's in the playground? 5.Who is Millie's best friend? 6.What school activities does Millie take part in? Mini--task 3 Reading 1.Read after the tape 2.Read together 3.Read individually Step 4 Post--task activities 1.Ss ask each other questions according to the passage. 2.Ss compare their own school with BSSS. write a short passage about their own school . 3. One or two Ss share theirs in the front . After learning this text. What do we think of our school life? Conclusion: Our school life is busy ,interesting and colourful.
