Teaching aims:
1. To learn the knowledge about Halloween.
2.To cultivate the Ss’ ability of reading comprehension.

1.Words: October, call, candy, wonderful, tooth, sharp, trick, treat.knock, special, costume, mask, paint,pumpkin , lantern.
2.Phrases:
A. a game called..., cut out, at Halloween,
play a trick on give…as… trick or treat
B. wear costumes with mask, paint faces
knock on, the evening of October 31st
3.Sentence structures:
A. what do we do for…?
B. If they do not give us a treat, we can play a trick on them
Teaching procedures
Step1 Warming up
1. Review the important festivals
2. Introduce the background knowledge of Halloween.
Step2 Skimming
Skim the text and find out the answers to this questio“what do we do at Halloween?”
A. Play a game called “trick or treat”
B. Dress up
C. Make pumpkin lantern
D. Have a special party
1. Give Ss several minutes to skim the text and check their answers.
2. Present pictures on the screen to show the four activities.
Designing purpose: To cultivate Ss’ ability in getting the main ideas of the text.
Step3 Listening
1. Present several questions on the screen
2. Listen carefully and find answers to the questions
3. Check their answers.
Step4 Reading
1. Read the paragraphs one by one.
2. Deal with the details about what they do at Halloween.
Step5 Practice
1.Present the topics on the screen and ask them to choose one to say something with their partners
2.Choose several students to talk about it.
Step6 Homework
7. Finish period 2 in Unit 3
8. Recite Reading.
