【The Witches of Pendle】It was not her fault to be born in a so - called witches’ family. That was why Jennet Device chose to abandon her family, who were all hanged due to her betrayal later. She was also dying in a prison. A person was branded with his family’s mark as soon as he was born. It is wiser to change the family disgrace than to dodge it, which is really a long way.

【The Elephant Man】Could a man who looked like an elephant be as lovely as a real elephant? His mum didn’t think so. A man took him around Europe to show for money. People teased him, feared him and bullied him. But others came to help him.
The Elephant Man’s story was a real story. If you have a relative or friend who looks ugly, would you love him? And what if he’s a stranger？
【象人】大象是可爱的，若是人长得像大象，还可爱不？母亲抛弃了他，有人利用他赚钱，大街上，人们笑他、怕他、打他。然而，也有人没有忘记帮助他。听说象人是个真人，象人的苦、乐是真实的故事，我想问的是：如果你的亲戚、朋友长得丑，也许你不会嫌弃，但是如果他是个陌生人呢？……

【The Phantom of the Opera】The story is not my cup of tea. The phantom had the same tragedy as the Elephant Man. Should a mum abandon her baby right after she gave birth to him only because of his ugly appearance? Who would love a person even not loved by his own mum? Shame on you, both mums in the two books.

【Great Expectations】People always like to compare with their friends. It is a big foible of all the people. If other people have a lot of money, we also want to be rich. If all the people around us are poor , we never mind that we are very poor, too. we will not ashamed because of our folly. This is a social problem.
The protagonist of this novel is Pip (Handel). His parents died when he was a baby. His sister had brought him up ‘by hand’. His sister married to Joe Gargery, the village blacksmith. They didn’t have much money, and Pip never went to school to study. But he was often very happy .Because all of his friends are like him. It isn’t very unfortunate to them, this is their lives. But by a chance, Pip helped a convict; he gave much food to him. Then he met Miss Havisham, a very strange old woman and she was very rich.
Four years later, Miss Havisham wants Pip to be removed from his home and educated as a gentleman who expects inherit a fortune when he grow up.
After hearing that . Pip started to despise his poor friends. He even feel ashamed because he live with the poor man . Pip’s ‘great expectations’ destroyed his life.
