For many years scientists have said that the earth is getting warmer. Now they have found something new －hot cities! In the southern US, they have found that cities become very hot in summer. For example, the city of Atlanta in Georgia has roof(屋顶) temperature of up to 50oC while it is 27℃ in the streets! At night, the outside of buildings stays so hot that the heat causes more storms over the city now!
China also has the same kind of problems. Every year more farmland is used for factories or offices. More housing is needed, too. As people become richer, they buy more cars. New roads are needed and new car parks are built in the city centers. These all make cities hotter.
It isn’t easy to change the situation. City planners say that we should plant more trees in the middle of cities. Every new street should have trees on both sides, they say. As I was leaving to meet Lynne, my roommate told me that I’d better take some money, but I didn’t listen to him. I thought that Lynne would pay because she had invited me. 
I arrived at the restaurant exactly on time. I know that Americans expect you to be on time. Lynne and I sat at a table in the corner of the restaurant and a waitress came and took our order. The dinner was a great success. I talked a lot about Saudi Arabia and Lynne told me all about herself. After two hours the waitress finally came and asked if we wanted one check or two. Lynne said two. We went to the cashier(收银员) and Lynne paid her check. I was embarrassed(尴尬的) when the cashier gave me my bill(账单). I had no money to pay for my meal. Then I had an idea.
