I notice they don't ask doctors for help but tried medicines by themselves in order to save time. Personally, I don't agree with them. First, it is not easier for us students to make a wise choose of medicines to cure illness. For example, when having a cold, most of us prefer to take antibiotics, which in fact is not necessary at most cases. And medicines have side effect, which may pose a threat to us because we don't have the enough knowledge of them. From what I stand, I strongly suggest we talk to the doctor after taking medicines. But healthy is more important than that. As a saying goes, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Recently, a lot of students in our school fallen ill due to the bad weather. Just being active, like when you run around at outside or play basketball at school, is type of exercise. Playing sports, dancing and doing push-ups also counts as exercise. These helped you build your strength. By using your muscles to do powerful things, you can make them strong than before. For teens and adult, this kind of workout can make muscles bigger, either. When you exercise, you’re building a strong body what will be able to move around and do all the stuff you need to do. Try to do more physically exercise every day and your body will thank you later. Kids exercise all the time without even think of it. The latest research suggests that the key factor separating geniuses from the merely accomplished is not I.Q., a generally bad predictor of success. Instead, it’s purposeful practice. Top performers spend more hours practising their craft. If you wanted to picture how a typical genius might develop, you’d take a girl who possessed a slightly above average language ability. It wouldn’t have to be a big talent, just enough so that she might gain some sense of distinction. Then you would want her to meet, say, a novelist, who coincidentally shared some similar qualities. Maybe the writer was from the same town, had the same family background, or shared the same birthday. This contact would give the girl a vision of her future self. It would give her some idea of a fascinating circle who might someday join. It would also help if one of her parents died when she was 12, giving her a strong sense of insecurity and fuelling a desperate need for success. Armed with this ambition, she would read novels and life stories of writers without end. This would give her a primary knowledge of her field. She would be able to see new writing in deeper ways and quickly understand its inner workings. Then she would practise writing. Her practice would be slow, painstaking and error-focused. By practising in this way, she delays the automating process. Her mind wants to turn conscious, newly learned skills into unconscious, automatically performed skills. By practising slowly, by breaking skills down into tiny parts and repeating, she forces the brain to internalize a better pattern of performance. Then she would find an adviser who would provide a constant stream of feedback, viewing her performance form the outside, correcting the smallest errors, pushing her to take on tougher challenges. By now she is redoing problems—how do I get characters into a room—dozens and dozens of times. She is establishing habits of thought she can call upon in order to understand or solve future problems. The primary quality our young writer possesses is not some mysterious genius. It’s the ability to develop a purposeful, laborious and boring practice routine; the latest research takes some of the magic out of great achievement. But it underlines a fact that is often neglected. Public discussion is affected by genetics and what we’re “hard-wired” to do. And it’s true that genes play a role in our capabilities. But the brain is also very plastic. We construct ourselves through behavior. 56. The passage mainly deals with          . A. the function of I.Q. in cultivating a writer B. the relationship between genius and success C. the decisive factor in making a genius D. the way of gaining some sense of distinction 57. By reading novels and writers’ stories, the girl could         . A. come to understand the inner structure of writing B. join a fascinating circle of writers someday C. share with a novelist her likes and dislikes D. learn from the living examples to establish a sense of security 58. In the girl’s long painstaking training process, ________. A. her adviser forms a primary challenging force to her success. B. her writing turns into an automatic pattern of performance C. she acquires the magic of some great achievement D. she comes to realize she is “hard-wired” to write 59. What can be concluded from the passage? A. A fuelling ambition plays a leading role in one’s success B. A responsible adviser is more important than the knowledge of writing. C. As to the growth of a genius, I.Q. doesn’t matter, but just his/her effort. D. What really matters is what you do rather than who you are. 56.The latest research suggests that the key factor separating geniuses from the merely accomplished is not I.Q.,a generally bad predictor of success.Instead,it’s purposeful practice. She’s be able to see new writing in deeper ways and quickly understand its inner workings. Her mind wants to turn conscious, newly learned skills into unconscious.Automatically performed skills. 22. I’d like to share a little story with you about something that happened when I was four. I remember it clearly. Our loving family dog was nearing the end of his life. My father picked him up and put him in a little bed we had made for him. Our dog, my companion, whom we had cared for, bit my father when he attempted to help him. How could he? Why? I couldn’t understand it. I didn’t like him anymore. I hadn’t thought about that story for a long time but something that happened last week brought it back to me. I went to speak with a friend. When I knocked on the door, I met in an instant an angry look and a few harsh(尖刻的)words. When the door was slammed(砰地关上)in my face, I stood there shocked, and in a rush, I was reminded of my dog bit my father 20 years ago or so. What brought that story back was that same feeling of betrayal. Both stories taught me something the next day. You see, when I got up in the morning and was told my dog had died, it became clear to me that he must have been in great pain. For him to have bitten a family member, he could not have been himself. Much the same for the other story when I learned that my friend’s wife had just left him. We are all beings of our environments, our opinions and feelings. And all of those things can cause you to say and do things that can’t be understood by those who are not in the same situation with you. If you meet someone either behaving out of character or acting in a way that doesn’t seem to fit the situation, put out your hand and be patient when you think it is least possible for him to do so. You may turn around a story that has a sad ending simply by your actions. 8. What is the influence of the incident mentioned in Paragraph1? A. It hurt his father’s feeling deeply. B. It has puzzled the author ever since. C. It left a deep impression on the author. D. It made the author dislike dogs. 9. What made he author think of the story of about 20 years ago? A. His friend’s attitude. B. The photo of the dog. C. His father’s wound. D. His friend’s suffering. 10. Why did the author’s friend say harsh words to the author? A. He was ill-tempered. B. He was suffering the pain of losing his wife. C. He was bothered by an unexpected visit. D. They once quarreled and he couldn’t forgive the author. 11. What’s the author’s advice to us? A. Help those in need. B. Look before you leap. C. Respect for others is a kind of virtue. D. Learn to put yourself in others’ shoes. C    9. A    10. B    11.
