I’m glad to know what you have been studying Chinese in an university in Beijing for about one month. Just as you have found, Chinese differ from English greatly. The pronunciation and the spelling of the Chinese words are very complicated, and so is the sentence structures. That is because many people, especially the foreigners, have great difficulty in learning Chinese.
However, practice makes perfect. If you can read and write Chinese as many as you can, you have a good command of it. In addition, you should look for more opportunities to communicate with the native people to get familiar to different accents as well as our cultures, which will help you a lot.
Don’t give up. I’m sure you can learn Chinese well. I can offer you some help if it necessary.
Best wishes!
Yours Li Hua

My old classroom was interesting because three side of the classroom were made from glass. I enjoyed sit close to the windows and looking at the view. On the left-hand side of the class, I could easy see the football field. In the mornings, it was full of students exercising. The view from the back of the classroom is also splendid. Close to the school there was a beautiful park with many trees around them. Farther in the distance, I could not enjoy the view of snowy mountains. On the right side of the class was the road. I was always interested to see the drivers in hurry in the morning. The position of the classroom with its view made me felt like I was dreaming. If I was only a child when I studied in that classroom, I will never forget it.

2.from→of 介词误用。be made from由??制成,看不出原材料;be made of由?? The chair is made of wood. Paper is made from the trees.
5.is→was 时态错误。 1
6.them→it 代词误用。
8.in^ hurry→a 考查固定搭配in a hurry急忙。第九句:在第一个in后加a固定短语in a hurry仓促;匆忙。
Make的宾补用动词原形make sb do sth.。第十句:felt→feel make sb.do sth. make sb do sth.
10.If→Although/Though 连词误用。 故把If→Although/Though。
have a rest 休息一会儿;have a good time 玩得开心;have a break休息一会儿; in a hurry 匆忙;after a while过了一会儿; once in a while 偶尔;have a good idea 有一个好主意;as a matter of fact事实上; in a word总而言之; make a choice 做出选择;a success一个成功的人,一件成功的事; a failure一个失败的人,一件失败的事; an honour一个荣幸的人,一个荣幸的事; have a good knowledge of 有某方面的好知识。
21. For grown-ups, an afternoon snooze(打盹) is often easier said than done. But many of us have probably experienced just how simple it can be to catch some sleep in a gently rocking hammock(吊床). By examining brain waves in sleeping adults, researchers reported in the June 21 issue of Current Biology, a Cell Press publication, that they now have evidence to explain why that is.
“It is a common belief that rocking causes sleep: we fall asleep in a rocking chair soon and, since ancient times, we cradle our babies to sleep,” said Sophie Schwartz of the University of Geneva. “Yet, how this works had remained a mystery. The goal of our study was made up of two parts: to test whether rocking does indeed improve sleep, and to understand how this might work at the brain level.”
Schwartz, Michel Mühlethaler, and their colleagues Laurence Bayer and Irina Constantinescu asked twelve adult volunteers to nap on a custom-made bed or “experimental hammock” that could either remain still or rock gently. All participants were good sleepers who didn’t typically nap and did not suffer from excessive sleepiness during the day. Each participant took two 45-minute afternoon naps, one with the bed still and one with the bed in motion, while their brain activity was monitored.
“We observed a faster transition to sleep in each and every subject in the swinging condition,” Mühlethaler said. “Surprisingly, we also observed a dramatic boosting of certain types of sleep-related brain waves.”
More specifically, rocking increased the length of stage N2 sleep, a form of non-rapid eye movement sleep that normally occupies about half of a good night’s sleep. The rocking bed also had a lasting effect on brain activity, increasing slow brain waves and bursts of activity known as sleep spindles(纺锤体).
Schwartz and Mühlethaler say the next step is to find out whether rocking can improve longer periods of sleep and to find out whether it may be useful for the treatment of sleep disorders, such as insomnia(失眠).
46. What does the June 21 issue of Current Biology tell us according to Paragraph 1?
A. It is more difficult for grown-ups to fall asleep.
B. People today like to sleep in a rocking hammock.
C. Many people nowadays suffer from excessive sleepiness.
D. There comes the evidence to explain why rocking benefits people’s sleep.
47. What can we learn from Sophie Schwartz’s words?
A. Her team aimed to answer two questions.
B. The study is going to benefit babies a lot.
C. The study had been kept secret before finished.
D. People used to believe rocking was bad for sleep.

A. The rocking seemed to improve participants’ sleep quality.
B. All the participants fell asleep faster in the swinging condition.
C. Some participants couldn’t fall asleep in the swinging condition.
D. Participants had a tendency to sleep excessively in the swinging bed.
49. What do Schwartz and Mühlethaler expect to figure out in the next research?
A. Whether swing can cause insomnia.
B. Whether swing can extend sleep time.
C. Whether swing can change brain waves.
D. Whether swing can benefit memory consolidation.
50. A suitable title for this passage would probably be _________.
A. Take a snooze. Easier said than done.

22. A global group of scientists have reduced the time it takes to find and introduce disease resistance genes from wild plants into domestic (国内的)crops such as rice, wheat and potato, a research revealed on Tuesday.
Scientists from the John Innes Center in Britain, along with colleagues from Australia and the United States, have created a database known as AgRenSeq, where researchers can easily search for resistance genes already discovered in wild s of modem crops.
The study was co-authored by a global expert Professor HarbansBariana from the University of Sydney, who said that this technology will support the discovery and characterization of new sources of disease resistance in plants. Once researchers have identified resistance genes using AgRenSeq, they can clone them and introduce them to domestic crops to protect against diseases and pests.
"We have found a way to scan the genome(基因组)of a wild of a crop plant and pick out the resistance genes we need and we can do it in record time," Dr. Brande Wulff, a project leader from the John Innes Centre, said.
"This used to be a process that took 10 or 15 years and was like searching for a needle in a haystack(干草堆),” Wulff said. “We have perfected the method so that we can clone these genes in a matter of months and for just thousands of dollars instead of millions."
The team are highly optimistic about their work, predicting it to be utilized in protecting many crops with wild s including soybeans, pea, cotton potato, wheat, rice, banana and cocoa. "Using speed cloning and speed breeding we could deliver resistance genes into the best varieties within a couple of years, like a phoenix(凤凰)rising from the ashes," Wulff added.
32. How have the researchers developed the resistance genes?
A. By reducing the research time.
B. By introducing them to wild plants.
C. By cloning them from domestic crops.
D. By getting resistance genes from wild plants.
33. What will be the use of the study in the future?
A. It will protect crops from being damaged by pests.
B. It will create a database for researchers to search.
C. It will protect domestic crops for 10 to 15 years.
D. It will contribute to reducing the wild plants.
34. Which of the following best explains "utilized" underlined in Paragraph 6?
A. Produced. B. Made. C. Used. D. Studied.
35.What can we infer From what Brande Wulff said?
A. The resistance genes cost millions of dollars.
B. Thy resistance genes were found in a haystack.
C. It look the researchers ten years to find the resistance genes.
D. Disease-resistance genes will be put into practice soon.
