Module 4 Unit 1 What are you doing? 行知小学 赵海玲 一、 Teaching content: New Standard English Book 4 Module 4 Unit 1 What are you doing? 二、Analysis of students The students from Class 2 Grade 2 are clever and active. They are good at expressing and communicating. But sometimes, they can not pay their attention to the content in the class, so I designed some activities, like singing a song, running kids to attract their attention, and active the atmosphere of the class. At the same time, I divide them into two groups and I will draw two trees on the blackboard to encourage them to be better. 三、Analysis of teaching content This unit is about present tense, the content is easy, and they’ve learnt some words in last module, so it will attract students’ interest easily. As present progressive has been taught for many times, this unit is the extension and prevention about it. 四、Teaching aims Depending on the content and students’ ability, teaching aims are : Knowledge aim: Be able to understand, speak and use the word: calling, eating, drinking Be able to understand, speak, write and use the following sentences: What are you doing? I’m eating. Ability aim: To train students’ ability to describe the pictures and what is happening with present progressive Emotion aim: To love spring and nature 五、Teaching key and difficult points Key points: new words and new structures Difficult points: The pronunciation of calling, eating, drinking change of prons in question and answer 六、Teaching methods Task-based language teaching method Group cooperative teaching method 七、 Teaching aids CD-ROM, PPT, word cards and some pictures 八、Teaching procedure I. Warming up Activity 1 Greet with students Sing the song “Are you sleeping?” Activity 2 T What’s the weather like? Ss: It is sunny/ hot/ raining/ windy/ snowy/ cloudy. T: Spring is coming. The leaves are green. If you do a good job, I will stick a leaf for your tree. (Teaching aim: By reviewing some words about weather and present tense, to show the way to compete and attract the interest while reviewing. ) II. Lead-in Magic eyes Show the pictures of “reading a book, drawing a picture, writing a letter, tidying the room, doing homework” Ss say the words, then read them together while doing the actions (Teaching aim: The revision of the words is a kind of transition between step 2 and step 3) III. Presentation Activity 1 Teach the new words “calling, eating, drinking” Read the words leading by little teachers Read the words together Read one by one, group by group Read while doing actions Play a word game (Teaching aim: To strengthen the words through different interesting activities ) Activity 2 Sing the song “What are you doing?” Change the song with new words (Teaching aim: to learn the new sentences through an interesting way) IV. Practice Activity 1 Running kids Review the words “drinking, swimming, eating, calling, dancing” T gives Ss 2 minutes to practice like this “- Hello, Tom. What are you doing? - I’m swimming. What are you doing? - I’m dancing.” Then have a show (Teaching aim: This activity is easy for Ss to review many Present Progressive words and strengthen the sentences, so Ss will answer it bravely and actively , then they can summarize the changing rules of Present Progressive ) V. Extension Activity 1 Listen to recorder and match the animals and expressions (Teaching aim: To improve the ability of listening and speaking, and strengthen the key points) VI. Emotion teaching Your trees grow up so many leaves. Spring is beautiful, we should go out to enjoy the beauty of nature. (Teaching aim: This step is the sublimation of the knowledge and the mind, they will remember that they should love nature.) VIII. Blackboard Design Eating. I’m calling. Drinking. Module 4 Unit 1 What are you doing?
