A tape recorder, pictures of clothes, a projector
Teaching procedures and ways :
Step I Warming up (Comic reading)
Talk about the clothes Ss and the teacher wear.
T: What colour is my jacket?
S: Black / White / Blue.
T: What colour of clothes do you like to wear?
S: I like to wear a white jacket and blue trousers.
T: Do you like to wear sports shoes?
S: Yes. / No.
T: Why? / Why not?
S: Because they are comfortable. / Because I don’t like them.
T: Can you guess what Eddie likes to wear?
Encourage Ss to guess what Eddie likes to wear. Then play the tape for the Ss to listen and check the answer.
T: Do you have the idea?
S: He doesn’t wear clothes. / Dogs don’t wear clothes.
Play the tape again for Ss to listen and answer some more questions, show the questions on the screen or write them down on the Bb.
1. What does Eddie want to spend 10 more minutes on? ( Sleeping.)
2. What does Hobo think of Eddie? ( Too lazy.)
Play the tape for Ss to listen and repeat, then ask Ss whether they understand the following expressions:
1. I don’t know what to wear today.
e.g. I don’t know what to say.
He doesn’t know what to do.
2. 10 more minutes
e.g.
one more cake
two more apples
some more books
3. You’re so lazy.
He is a lazy dog.
Ask Ss to act the conversation in pairs.
Step II Presentation
Show some pictures of a blouse, boots, a shirt, shoes, tie, trousers. Teach the word ‘pink’. Write down the words on Bb, and repeat them, make sure the Ss can read each one correctly. Then read the context in Part A, explain ‘ give a fashion show ’, ‘ raise money’. After that , let them complete Part A.
Step III Practice
Stick the pictures of clothes on the Bb to help Ss talk about what they are going to wear if they also want to have a fashion show.
Sample:
T: What are you going to wear for the show?
S: A pink blouse, a white skirt and a pair of white boots.
T: That’s very nice.
S: Thank you.
Ask Ss to work in pairs like this.
Step IV Summing up
Sum up some language points:

Practice the conversation in Part B before the whole class.

Complete the passage:

Step V Homework
Prepare a short fashion show in class: Each group recommends a member for the fashion show.
Requests:
1. The materials of the clothes Ss wear must include silk, cotton and wool.
2. The materials of shoes must include leather.
3. The clothes must include blouse, dress, shirt, tie, trousers, jeans and skirt.
4. The shoes must include trainers and boots.
