Unit 5 Do you want to watch a game show? Section A (1a—2c) Teaching Aims: The students will be able to: 1. read and pronounce the following words after looking at the pictures and using in the conversations. sitcom news soap opera educational plan 2. Talk about perferences using the following sentences in pairs or in groups. ① What do you think of talk shows? ② I can’t stand them. ③ I don’t mind them. ④ I like/love them. / I don’t like them. 3. Make plans by working in pairs or in groups using “plan to do” and “want to do”. Main Points: 1. Talk about preferences 2. Make plans Difficult points: How to make plans Teaching Steps: Step 1: Presentation 1. Greet with the students. 2. According to the weather, ask the students : What do you think of the weather today? 3. Present the sentences about talking about preferences: ---What do you think of the weather today? --- I can’t stand it. I don’t mind it. I like/love it. / I don’t like it. 4. Show a picture of Smart Goat and Big Big Wolf and ask the students: What do you think of Smart Goat/ Big Big Wolf/this cartoon? to practice the languages above. (设计意图:利用和学生的问候,建造英语学习氛围,同时引入表达喜好的句子;利用喜羊羊和灰太狼的卡通提高兴趣,同时练习这些句子。) Step 2: New Words Smart Goat and Big Big Wolf is a famous cartoon. What other TV shows do you know? Let the students brainstorm the names of TV shows,and learn the new words: sitcom ,news, soap opera. (设计意图:利用喜羊羊和灰太狼的图片让学生头脑风暴有关电视节目的单词,同时利用图片学习新单词:sitcom, soap opera, news) Step 3: Practice 1. Ask two students: What do you think of talent shows and give the students an example. 2. Students work in pairs to practice the conversation with the words about talk shows. 3. Ask the students to act it out. (设计意图:学完单词后和上面的句型结合起来练习,对句型再次运用,对单词加以运用,层层递进,学以致用。) Step 4: Presentation 1. Tell the students : Today you will have no homework and you can watch TV. Ask a student to present the conversation: ---- What do you want to watch tonight? ---- I want to watch ______. ---- Do you plan to watch _____? ---- ______ ---- Why? ---- Because ____________. 2. The students work in pairs. 3. Act the dialogue out. (设计意图:创设情境导入第二个语言重点制定计划,让学生两人一组进行操练,对语言进行运用。) Step 5: 2a,2b 1. Talk about the picture in 2a and answer the questions. 2. Listen and number them in the order you hear them. 3. Listen again and complete the sentences. Before listening, tell the students some listening skills. 4. Check the answers. (设计意图:听力训练,把听说有效结合起来,并且进行听力策略的指导。) Step 6: Practice According to the chart, do a survey to make a weekend plan. Then give us a report.
