Learn some useful words and expressions: robot, scientist, appear, take the place of, situation, repair, mend 2. Learn how to express certainty and uncertainty: (1)I’m sure robots can do some work faster and better than humans. (2)—Are you sure? —Yes, quite sure. (3)—Do you think you will have a robot in 20 years? —Yes, I’m sure. /No, I’m not sure. 3. Talking about popular science and modern technology. Ⅱ. Teaching aids 教具 录音机/玩具/小黑板 Ⅲ. Five-finger Teaching Plan 五指教学方案 Step 1 Review 第一步 复习(时间:15分钟) (教师将一个玩具机器人和一个玩具汽车进行比较,复习形容词的比较级并逐渐导入新课。) T: Boys and girls. Look, what are these? Ss: They are toys. T: Which one do you like better, the robot or the car? (教师说时拿出机器人演示,让学生理解robot的意思并板书。) robot Ss: The robot. T: Why do you think so? S1: Because I think the robot is more interesting than the car. S2: Yes, I agree. I think it is the most interesting of all the toys. T: Yes, I think so. Scientists invented the first robot in 1921. (教师边说边板书scientist。) scientist T: Newton is a scientist. Edison is a famous scientist, too. Most students in our class want to be a scientist. Right? S4:Yes, I’m sure. (引导学生用I’m sure来回答。) T: Then, when did the first robot appear? (板书) appear S4: I don’t know . S5: Neither do I. T: Oh, it’s invented in 1921. Many students are interested in robots. Could you tell me what robots can do for us? (学生汇报讨论结果。) S6: Robots can help us a lot. S7: Robots can do dangerous work. S8: Robots can help us clean the room. S9:… T: Very good. Robots can do many different kinds of jobs. Robots can take the place of humans in some work situations. Robots can do lots of dangerous work instead of humans. (板书) take the place of = instead of situation T: We know robots can do a lot of things for us. My bike is broken. It doesn’t work. I have to repair it. Are you sure robots can repair my bike? (教师边说边板书repair。注意此处用be sure,初步让学生理解 be sure 是表示肯定的一种说法。) repair S13:I’m not sure. (引导学生回答。) S14:I’m sure they can repair it. T: I’m sure, too. We can also say robots can mend my bike. (板书) repair =mend Step 2 Presentation 第二步 呈现(时间:5分钟) (听1a录音两遍,回答问题。) T: Robots are very useful to humans. Do you want to know more about robots? Now let’s listen to 1a and answer the following questions. (出示小黑板) Where did Kangkang go last weekend? When did the scientists invent the first robot? What can robots do for us? (核对答案。) Step 3 Consolidation 第三步 巩固(时间:10分钟) 1. (学生先自读1a, 然后跟读,注意语音语调。) 2. (让学生两人一组练习1a,然后找几组学生到前面表演对话。) T: Please practise 1a in pairs and then act it out in the front of the classroom. 3. (完成1b。) T: Well done! Now please look at 1b. Can you write down the right answers according to the dialog? Ss:Yes. T: Are you sure you can write down the answers without looking at the dialog? Ss:Yes. I’m quite sure. T: OK. I’ll ask four students to come to the blackboard and write them down. (两分钟后核对答案。) Step 4 Practice 第四步 练习(时间:10分钟) 1. (1)T: Boys and girls, we have learned something about robots. Do you know more about what robots can do for us? Ss: Yes, we do. T: What else? S1: They can save people in danger. S2: They can repair machines. … (2)(让学生阅读2图片下的内容并大声朗读。) (3)(听2录音,完成2并核对答案。) (4)(小组对话,巩固所学短语。) For example: S1:What can robots do for us? S2: They can save people in danger, repair machines and lift trucks. S3: … (如果不全面,让其他学生补充。) 2. (小组讨论完成3。) T: Now please discuss the advantages and disadvantages of robots. Then fill out the form. You can add your opinions. T: Please make a dialog according to the information above and your own opinions. For example: S1: Are you sure robots will make humans lose their jobs? S2:Yes, I’m sure. / No, I’m not sure. S1: Is it good or bad for us? S2:It’s good. /It’s bad for us. S1: Do you think you will have a robot in 20 years? S2:Yes, I’m sure. / No, I’m not sure. (挑几组学生表演对话。) Step 5 Project 第五步 综合探究活动(时间:5分钟) 1. (本课主要学习了关于机器人的知识,请小组讨论下列两个问题。) (1) What can robots do for us? (2) Is it good or bad for us? For example: SA:What can robots do for us? SB:They can do some dangerous work, mend roads, … . SA:Is it good or bad for us ? SB:I’m sure it’s good for us. (两分钟后挑几名同学汇报讨论结果.) 2. Homework: (课后搜集有关机器人的信息,然后把收集的信息用英语写一个报告。) 板书设计: I am sure there are no UFOs. Section A Grammar: express certainty and uncertainty take the place of=instead of I’m sure robots can do some work faster and better than humans. —Are you sure? —Yes, quite sure. —Do you think you will have a robot in 20 years? —Yes, I’m sure. / No, I’m not sure.
