Comic strip and Welcome to the unit
Teaching goals:
1. Talk about famous things in Asia
2. Make the students know the fact that they will succeed as long as they work hard.

1.Make the Ss free to talk in and after class about the famous things.
2.Learn how to finish the task of speaking.

任务一：自由交谈
1. Show a map of the world to the students and have a talk with them:

B: It’s a map of Asia.
A: What countries can you see?

Which country would you like to visit in Asia, Thailand, Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore or Indonesia? Why?

2. Encourage students to talk about the history and culture of Asia.
3. Encourage students to talk about Chinese culture.

Eddie and Hobo are visiting the Great Wall. Listen to their dialogue and answer the questions:
1. What does Hobo think of the Great Wall?
2. Does Eddie like visiting the Great Wall?
3. Do you think Eddie will continue to the end?

Let the students read and act the dialogue in pairs.
任务五：呈现
1. Show the pictures of part A to the students. Let the students guess them in Chinese. Then tell them in English and learn these new words.
2. Complete Part A and check the answer.

Discuss the given topic in groups of four.

Listen and read after the tape In Part B on page 7.
Then make a new dialogue.
