知识目标:
情态动词could, should表示建议、请求的用法；Why don’t you…? Would you mind…? How about…?等表示建议。
自读考点
1. argue动词，意思是“争论；争吵”，常用结构有：argue with sb. argue about sth.
2. call up意思是“给……打电话”，是“动词+副词”结构的短语。表达相同意思的还有：ring up, make sb a call, call / ring sb.
3. surprise作名词，意思是“惊讶；惊奇”，常用短语有in surprise，to one’s surprise，have a surprise party。作动词，意思是“使惊奇；使惊异；使感到意外”。其形容词是surprising和surprised，前者作定语或表语，用来描述事物，后者作表语，用来描写人物。
4. except介词，意思是“除……之外”，其后可跟名词、介词短语、代词、动词不定式或从句，表示被除外的不在全体之内，而but虽也有与之相同的作用和意义，但常与不定代词连用。例如：Nobody else but me got an invitation. 除了我之外，没有人收到了请柬。另外，besides也有此意思，但表示被除外的在其他之内。
5. pay for意思是“付款”，其结构为：sb. pay +钱数+for sth. 表达相同意思的句型有：sb. spend +钱数+ (in) doing sth. / on sth.，It cost sb. +钱数+ to do sth.，sth. cost sb. +钱数。它们之间可以进行同义转换。例如：
She paid 100 yuan for the dress. = The dress cost her 100 yuan. = She spent 100 yuan buying the dress / on the dress.
6. else形容词，意思是“别的；其他的”，常修饰不定代词、疑问代词、疑问副词，且置于这些词之后；other作形容词，意思也是“别的；其他的”，常修饰名词，置于名词之前。
7. see sb. doing sth. 该句型强调宾语补足语的动作正在进行，see sb. do sth.则强调宾语补足语的动作的结果。能够使用这两种句型的动词还有：watch, notice, hear, find, feel等。
8. These children find it hard to think for themselves.此句中的it充当形式宾语，其真正的宾语是动词不定式。
9. mind动词，意思是“介意”，后接动词时，要用动名词。常用句型是Would you mind (not) doing sth?
10. turn down意思是“开小些”，turn up意思是“开大些”，turn on意思是“打开”，turn off意思是“关掉”。
11. right away意思是“立该；马上”，相当于at once。
12. receive=get意思是“收到”，常与from搭配。
13. a 6-year-old child意思是“一个六岁的孩子”，像“基数词+名词+表单位的形容词”来作定语时，它们之间必须使用“-”连字符。
14. take care意思是“小心；当心；注意”，与be careful, look out同义。take care (not) to do sth.小心(不要)做某事。
15. take an interest in意思是“对……感兴趣”，也可表达为：show an interest in, be / feel interested in。
