The joke in the cartoon is based on a pun. The words a haircut can have two meanings. First, a haircut is a noun and refers to the act of having one’s hair cut. Second, a hair cut is a noun and a past participle, and means that the person would like one hair to be cut. Since the speaker seems to have just a few individual hairs, we can understand the joke without the need for a long explanation. As usual, the cartoon introduces the main topic for the chapter.

Tips on Hair care
Like your body your hair needs a balanced diet
to remain healthy all the time.
Water: one-fourth part of our hair strength is related to water. It is necessary to make sure that you get enough of fluids. If your hair feels "thirsty" it is a sign that you have lost more moisture (潮湿, 湿气) than it is possible. The aim of water is to hydrate(与水化合) the body and keep the hair shiny and silky. It would be perfect to drink about nine glasses of water every day.
Proteins: Protein (蛋白质) gives your hair more strength.
Minerals: minerals are the conductors (导体) of the oxygen to your hair.
Vitamin A - this vitamin is very important for the sebum (皮脂) in the scalp (头皮). It contains in plant and animal foods, especially in liver (肝脏), milk, cheese, eggs, carrots, cabbage and apricots.
Vitamin C is very useful for your hair and skin health. It can be found in kiwi, pine apple, tomatoes and citrus fruits.
Vitamin E enhances your scalp circulation, delays the graying of your hair. It contains in egg yolks, milk, rice, liver.
Vitamin B6 helps to create melanin (黑(色)素), which gives color to your hair. It can be found in vegetables, egg yolks (蛋黄) and cereals (禾谷类) (whole grain ones).
And vitamin B12 helps to protect you from hair loss. Food sources are milk, fish, eggs and chicken.
