Module 11 The weather
Period 1: Vocabulary and Listening
Teaching arrangement:
根据学生学习英语的特点和规律，我把本模块划分为5课时：
Teaching Content: Module11 The weather (including Unit1 It may be cold tomorrow,
Unit 2 When’s the best time to visit your town or country? and Unit3 Language in use.)
Teaching Aims and Demands:
1. Language knowledge:
Key words: cloud, shower, degree, temperature, joke, wet, might, windy, probably, sunny, cool, dry, cloudy, camera, umbrella, pleasant, from time to time, fall,
Key structures: It may not be cold, just wet.
And it might be windy.
…so it’ll probably be hot and sunny.
It may be quite cool, but it’ll probably be dry.
2. Reading skill: To get information from the reading material about the best time to visit the USA
To match advice and reasons
3. Writing skill: To write advice using because, so and but
4. Affection and attitudes: We should care for others, help others out of trouble, solve some problems in daily life and study.
Learning approaches: Interactive approach, Bottom-up approach, Formal and interactive practice and task-based activities.
Teaching Aids: Multi-Media (Tape recorder, power point, OHP, handout)
Teaching Procedures:
Period 1: Vocabulary and Listening
Step1 Warming-up (Activity1)
1. List words about weather
2. Make sentences with these weather
3. Make dialogues like this:
---What’s the weather like in Guangdong?
---It’s hot.
---How’s the weather in your hometown?
---It’s cool.
Step2 Listening (Activity2-6)
1. Listen to the weather forecast. (Activities 2&3)
First, make Ss be familiar with how to express temperature in weather report.
Then, listen to the tape and finish the exercises.
Then check answers.
2. Listen and check. ( Activity 4, 5 & 6)
First, listen and answer questions.
Then, listen to the tape again, finish Activity6.
Then work in pairs and check answers.
Open books and finish Activity 5.
Read after the tape and then work in groups of three.
Act out the dialogue.
