Step 1. Revision
Check the homework. Ask some students to use some real goods to make up dialogues in pairs.
And then tell some students to ask and answer the prices of clothing that they are wearing today. And also ask some students to count numbers from one to thirty-one before class
Step 2. Reading
Put some real things in the classroom as a store.
T: This is the Huaxing Clothes Store. In this store, there are many beautiful things on sale. You can buy your favorite clothes from the store. And the prices are very low. Write some new words buy, from, price, store, sell on the blackboard. Ask students to read the new words on the blackboard. Ask students to read the ad on P45.
T: Now read the ad for Huaxing Clothes Store and find out what things you want to buy at Huaxing Clothes Store Sale.
S: We can buy sweaters, sports bags, T-shirts, socks and …
T: Good, but how much are these things? Are they at a good price?
S: Yes, they are.
T: Please tell me the prices of the things in the store. How much is the sports bag?
S: It is 12 yuan each.
T: How much is the sweater?
S: It is 25 yuan each.
T: Thank you. OK, now, let’s do some exercises to fill in the price tags overhead projector. When students are doing this, move around the classroom giving them help if they need.
Check the answers. And then ask students to read the ad again on the screen and answer the questions, in the end check the answers.
Questions:
1. What’s the shop’s name?
2. How much is the bag?
3. How much are the sports shoes?
4. How much are the socks?
5. Can you buy red socks in the shop?
Step 3. Writing (3b: P45)
At first, ask students to read the ad and practice writing an ad themselves.
T: Mr. Cool wants someone to help him to write an ad for his clothes shop because the clothes in his shop don’t sell well. Can you help him? Now write an ad for him.
If students need extra help, write a sample ad together in the class.
Step 4. Groupwork (4: P45)
Before class, students were asked to prepare some real goods ( e.g. food / watches / bags / bicycles / ... ) and some money, some paper tokens of goods and now ask them to do a shopping game using the things they prepared.
T: We often go to the shops to buy something. Now you have another chance. Work in groups and choose a place as your “store”. You can put your own tokens such as food, watches, bags, bicycles etc on your stalls to sell and one of you stays at the stall and sells goods. Each group has 200 yuan. The rest of your group are buyers. You will go to visit the other stalls to buy the goods. Remember: make a note of what you buy or sell and write them in the chart in 4 on P45.
At the end of the activity, ask each group to calculate the worth of each group by checking how much money they have and estimating the worth of their goods and adding them together. The group with the most value it money and goods is the winner
Step 5. Summing up
Ask some students to sum up this lesson by overhead projector and then have a test for the aim. Check the answers and correct the answers.
Homework:
1. Do activities 6 and 7 on P29 in the workbook.
2. Write an ad and act it in next class.
