Unit 5 Let’s celebrate Period 1 Comic Strip and Welcome to the Unit Teaching Objectives: 1、 To know something about the important festivals both in China and in western countries 2、 To talk about the favourite festivals Teaching Contents: 1、 Words: A: festival , as, dress, celebrate , favourite , interesting B:Halloween , ghost, mooncake 2、 Phrases: A:Chinese New Year, Mid-Autumn Festival B: dress up as, Dragon Boat Festival, Thanksgiving Day, Monkey King 3、Sentence structures: A: Which is your favourite festival? B: Why do you like…? Because… Main points: 1、 to read the new words correctly 2、 to understand and grasp the names of the festivals 3、 to talk about the favourite festivals Difficult points: to use the right sentences to talk about festivals Teaching methods: listening ,writing , speaking and reading Teaching tools: pictures, recorder, tape Teaching procedures: Step one温故习新,导引自学 correct prepared exercises and solve the problem Step two交流质疑,精讲点拨 Step 1: Lead-in Free talk—answer some questions T: How many days are there in a week? S:--- T: How many months are there in a year? S:--- T: How many seasons are there in a year? What season is it now? S:--- T: Do you know the New Year’s Day? When is it S:--- T: But I think the most important festival(板书,带读) in China is Chinese New Year) Chinese celebrate(板书,带读) it every year .(让学生猜测,师板书标题 Let’s celebrate!) Step2:Presentation(1)(P/39 Welcome to the unit) 1, T: Boys and girls, just now we knew Chinese New Year, now please look at the picture(教学挂图) on the blackboard, please guess which picture is about Chinese New Year? S: --------- 2,T:Can you tell me something about Picture 2? S: -- 3,T:What is the sixth picture about? S: -- T: We all know Chinese New Year , Mid-Autumn Festival and Dragon Boat Festival are Chinese festivals. Now Let’s know something about Western festivals. 4, T:Please look at Picture 5 together and tell me “Which festival”? S: --- 5, T:Ok, look at Picture 1 together, what’s this festival ? S: --师根据生回答作和其相应对话(师在第1幅图片边板书Halloween带读) T:Do you know more about Halloween? Are you interested in it? 6, T:What’s this ? S: -- T:Is it delicious? S: -- T:When do people eat it? S: --(教师在第3幅图片边板书Thanksgiving Day ) T:Boys and girls , Christmas , Halloween and Thanksgiving Day are western countries. 7, 根据本班学生学习情况,可补充New Year’s Day, Women’s Day, Teachers’ Day, National Day 8, ask the students to read the names of the six festivals (read the festivals together after the teacher) 9, ask the students to finish P/39 A and check by themselves Step 3:Pair work 1, T: We learned some festivals just now. My favourite festival is Mid-Autumn Festival. Because I like to eat mooncakes. 板书:My favourite festival is……/Because I like to …… 2, Use the sentence “My favourite festival is……/Because I like to ……” to describe your favourite festival 3, Open the book and read Part B(男女生分组分角色朗读) 4, Use Millie and Amy’s conversation as a model(P/39B),replace the underlined words with your own ideas. (4人一组)师可板书:eat chocolate/ pumpkin Lanterns. eat rice dumplings/get Christmas presents. 5. ask some groups to act before the class(尝试竞赛,激发兴趣) Step4: Presentation( comic strip) 1,T: Now let’s listen what Hobo and Eddie are doing at Halloween? Close your books and listen to the tape. Then answer the questions (1)T: what are Hobo and Eddie doing? (2)T: What is Eddie doing? S: He’s dressing up as a ghost. (板书,带读) dress up as –意为乔装打扮成--- dress up in – 意为“用---乔装打扮”(板书,区分) T: Do you like dressing up as a ghost? what is Hobo doing? Does Eddie like it? (3),T: What is Hobo dressing up as then ? S: He is dressing up as Monkey King (板书,带读) Who can dress up as Monkey King?(让同学复述运用dress up as 句型) 2, ask the students to read after the tape 3,ask the students to read the dialogue together Step 5: Pair work 1, Act the dialogue out 2, Act before the class Step three当堂反馈,拓展迁移 《学评》 Step four Homework: 1, recite the phrases 2,Use Millie and Amy’s conversation as a model to write three conversations 3, pre-read Reading
