Teaching aims :
1.Let students know all kinds of animals such as tiger ,elephant ,koala ,dolphin ,panda ,lion ,penguin ,giraffe and so on.
2.Express preferences and reasons.(表达喜好和理由)
A: Why do you like koalas? B: Because they are cute.
3. Train the students to protect animals consciously.
4. Let the students learn to help each other actively.

1. Master the vocabularies of animals.
2. Discuss the reason why you like it best.
3. Learn the difference between kind of and very.
Teaching steps:
Step 1 Lead-in
T asks students : T show a picture of a zoo and tell the students : In the zoo,there are many kinds of animals. What animals do you know? S Let the students say as many animals they’ve learnt as they can quickly. Then T show some more pictures of animals to teach the students new words.(colorful pictures can raise the students’ learning interest.)
Step 2 New words
1.Look at the animals on the screen. What is this? It is a panda. It’s very cute.
Repeat with other animals, such as tiger, elephant, lion and so on.
2.. Play a guessing game to help the students get familiar with the animals
3. Ask students to use the adj to describe the animals:What do you think of it?
It’s very smart./cute.
Step 3 Pairwork (S work in pairs to practice the dialogues)
Now you are in the zoo,what animals do you want to see first?
What animals do you like? Why?
Let the students to practice in pairs. Then ask some pairs to act out their conversations.
Task 1: A: Where are pandas from? B:They are from China.
Task 2: A: Let’s see the …s first.
B:Why do you want to see the …s?
A: Because they’re
Task 3: A: What animals do you like?
B: I like …
A: Why do you like …s?
B: Because they are very/kind of….

Step 4:Listen
Some children are also in the zoo now.

2aListen and write the animals you hear. Draw a line from the animals to the description words.
2b.Listen and complete the conversation with the words in the box.
(The aim of this task is to develop the students’ abilities of collecting and using information.)
Step 5. Play games (Challenge extreme limit)
Do some challenges.
Divide the class into groups and see which group can be the winners.
Challenge1. Use the pictures to test the students’ memories.
Challenge2. Let the students use correct adjectives to describe different animals.
Challenge3. Answer the questions quickly.
(The aim of this task is to let the students practice using the target language and give them an emotional education.)
Step 6Summary
During this lesson, we have learnt some names of the animals, how to describe your favorite animals and why you love them. The animals are our good friends. We should love them and protect them.
Step 7Homework
Make up a conversation between you and your partner using the target language we have learned today.
