As is symbolically illustrated in the picture, sheltered by a huge umbrella from the threatening surroundings, a cute baby is sleeping comfortably on the beautiful earth with a bird flying around him. And below the earth is a caption which says: advocate low-carbon and cherish the planet.
What the illustration portrays is behavior-instructive, and what it depicts is a hot talking-point: promote low-carbon economy, which emphasizes the optimum utilization of natural resources. There are a couple of driving forces, I would argue, behind this tide. In the first place, excessive economic expansion has caused irreparable damage to the ecological environment, making it urgent to adopt a sustainable development pattern——low-carbon economy. What’s worse, global warming triggered by intemperate emission of carbon dioxide exerts undesirable impacts on people’s routine life. All this attest to the fact that low-carbon economy is indispensable for sustainable development.
Chinese saying has it that “Forefathers plant trees so future generations can enjoy the shade.” Indeed, we must vigorously give impetus to the construction of a conservation-oriented society that promotes low-carbon economy, in line with Chinese traditional core values. I’m firmly convinced that we are definitely capable of taking a path of sustainable development, with unflagging efforts made.
