Walked Bingo
To create the Game!
1. Print on card or laminate each bingo card and the call cards. If laminated you can use whiteboard markers, if on card, counters are needed.
2. Cut up the call cards.
How to play
1. Cards are handed out to every pupil in the class.
2. The leader says whether the students are searching for a line or a full house.
3. The teacher calls the call cards by pullung them out – the winner is the first student to achieve the full house/line.
Another strategy
The teacher reads out a passage or sentences which contain the words and students must identify them as they are being read out.
Follow up activities
· Students create a piece of writing using all the connectives on their card. These can be read to the class during another game of connective bingo and students cross off the connectives as they are used. Be sure to swap the bingo cards round before the second game.
· Students create their own “connective bling” by writing a sentence which contains each of the connectives on their card. The sentences are transferred on to strips of paper and decorating each one before creating a “paper chain” by looping each strip through the other and sticking. My pupils really enjoyed creating their own “bling” (as pictured), it also made a great display, whilst a colleague and I have also connected two classrooms with a massive chain which was also a great success.
