Analysis on teaching materials
The topic of this unit is Birdwatching. We have learnt wild animals in Unit 5. We have found there will be no rare wild animals left if we don’t protect them. So this unit links with a special meaning of Unit 5. This article comes from the society newsletter. It is focused on the topic of wetlands which is a good place for birdwatching. This lesson plays an important part in the English teaching of this unit. The main idea of the topic is to make us understand the importance of the wetlands. Since it is a reading with some new words, it’s helpful to improve students’ reading ability.
Analysis on learners
Students in Grade 8 are able to have the basic reading skills in English. They have known how to guess the meanings of some new words in the sentences and get some useful information they wanted after reading. They can express their opinions and feelings about the things, especially the things they are interested in. They may be willing to share their own feelings.
