They are supposed to be interested in this topic in English. 二、教学目标 Listening: Get the main idea of the passage and number some sentences by listening Speaking: Describe some events in life with the help of “V. + to do” Reading: Understand the conversation about Lao She Teahouse Writing: Make some sentences using the structure: V. + to do Emotional Aims: Strengthen our proud of the traditional culture 三、学习者特征分析 1. As to the teahouse or Beijing Opera culture, Ss were told a bit before but not very familiar. 2. As to the infinitive, Ss have learnt and written some “V. + to do” sentences but they haven’t been taught that is called infinitive. 3. Are you interested in music? 1.Listen to the questions carefully and try to answer them in different ways such as: I like…; I am interested in or my interest is… Aims Help Ss learn new words more easily and get into a new topic in a more interesting way. Resources Mp3 files, website links and handouts 2.Play Beijing Opera for Ss and introduce Lao She Teahouse by presenting a video and some pictures. 2.Preview the text and do some internet research about Lao She Teahouse. Share their own information about Lao She Teahouse from the internet. 3.Ask: what does Lao She Teahouse offer? Is there anything special in Lao She Teahouse? Is it (im)possible for foreigners to understand Beijing Opera in Lao She Teahouse? Can they talk loudly or just whisper when the show is on? 3.Try to answer the questions about Lao She Teahouse with the words underlined on teacher’s PPT: Lao She Teahouse offer…; It is impossible for foreigners to …; They can’t talk loudly and just whisper… 4.Highlight the new words and lead them to read aloud. 4.Focus on the highlighted words and read them after the teacher. 5.Set a blank-filling game for the Ss to further remember the new words (handout 1) 5.Look at the blanks and try to say out the answers immediately. Elicit the main idea of the passage 1.Play the tape of Activity 2. 1.Go through the questions before the listening. Aims 1. To help Ss get the main idea of the passage. 2. To make Ss fall in a habit of previewing new lesions. 3. Encourage Ss to answer questions independently. 4. Strengthen the listening and reading skill of the Ss. Resources Tape recorder and handouts 2.Ask the Ss to answer where the characters went after listening. 2.Listen and number the sentences in activity 2 and answer where they went. 3.Reading: Ask the Ss to read the passage to get a main idea and finish handout 2: choose the right answer. 3.Listen to the passage and choose the right answer about the main idea. 4.Ask Ss to read aloud the whole passage. 4.Read aloud the passage 5.Call back and check the answers of activity 4 5. Preview the new passage and finish activity 4 before class. 6.Ask Ss to focus on the key character “Sally” and complete the information about Sally (handout 3). 6.Finish handout3 individually. Input the structure of infinitive as the object: V. + to do Highlight the structure: V. + to do Think about the similar part of all the answers. Aims Sentences of the same structure can give a deep impression to the Ss to and help them summarize the rules. It is more useful than just directly telling the Ss the structure Resource:handout3 Encourage Ss to summarize the structure of infinitive Try to write down the same structure of the highlighted phrases Present the sentence structure, function and verbs about infinitive. Make notes and read aloud the notes about infinitive Output the infinitive as object 1.Speaking: give some simple example sentences for reference and ask Ss to talk something about their hope, plans or life. 1.Finish handout4 and try to use sentences like: I hope to, I decided to, I offer to, I agree to, to talk freely. Aims To make sure the Ss have comprehended infinitive and applied it in speaking and writing Resource:handout4 2.Writing: Ask Ss to do some translation work and call back the answers. 2.Discuss with the partners about the translation. 3.Teacher needs to divide Ss into 6 groups and evaluate them 3.Run to the blackboard to write down the answers as quickly as possible to get more points for the group.
