Module 10 Australia Unit 2 The game that they like most is Australian football. 教学设计 教材分析 This is the second lesson in this module. The reading material is information about Australia. It’s a good text to help the students improve their reading strategies, such as getting information from the reading material. 学情分析 The students are interested in this topic and the intercultural information. But they may have trouble in express their ideas in talking about the topic in English fluently. They may have little knowledge in the background information of Australia. So this lesson will raise their interest and broaden their horizons. 教学目标 【知识目标】 1. Key words: period, spirit, relationship, relative, ham, salad, grape, surf, kangaroo, riding, lazy, ride 2. Key phrases: lots of, be surprised at, in many ways, is made of, at the moment, far behind 3. Key sentences: (1) The Aborigines are the people that have lived in Australia from the earliest times,and their ancient stories describe the spirits that created the world. (2) The foods that Australians like most are ham and beef with lots of salad. (3) The game that they like most is Australian football. (4) The horse that I rode was lazy. 【能力目标】 1. To understand the theme and details of the passage. 2. To be able to describe Ss’ own travel experience with attributive clauses. 【情感目标】 To know about the history, food and culture customers in different countries. 教学重难点 【教学重点】 1. Key words: period, spirit, relationship, relative, ham, salad, grape, surf, kangaroo, riding, lazy, ride 2. Key phrases: lots of, be surprised at, in many ways, is made of, at the moment, far behind 3. (4) The horse that I rode was lazy. 【教学难点】 To train Ss’ reading and writing abilities. 课前准备 Multimedia 教学过程 Step I Warming up Ss look at the picture and talk about some information of Australian . T: Today I bring a globe that I bought yesterday. Where is Australia? How much do you know about Australian? What’s the weather like in Australia now? 【设计意图】 通过观看图片并进行描述,让学生熟悉本单元的话题,从而顺利导入新课。 Step II Leading in Guess the names of the famous places in Australia T:Australia has many famous places. Guess the names of these places. Match the sentences with the pictures. Ss get the answers according to the key words. T: Which place do I like most? Why ? The place that I like most is the Great Barrier Reef. Because I can have fun in the water. Ss talk about the place that they like most. T: We have talked about the place and weather about Australia. What else do you know? Show the national flag and emblem of Australia. Australia have relationships with the UK. Kangaroo and emu stand for the spirit of Australians. Step III While-reading (I) Fast reading What is Tony going to say about Australia in the letter? People, Food, Sports, Animals, weather (II) Scan and circle the key words of each Paragraph(1-6) P1__________________ P2__________________ P3 __________________ P4__________________ P5-6 __________________ (III) Careful reading (A) Read Para 1 Read Para 1 and find out something about Ayers Rock and Aborigines Ayers Rock : Its length and height Colours __________________ Aborigine: the people that___________________ Culture __________________ Aborigines: the spirit that from ______________________ What do you think of Aboriginal culture? Let the Ss choose the right usage of the tool in the Aborigine culture. (B) Read Para 2 Read Para 2 and find out something about Australian lifestyle. Australian lifestyle: Australians __________________with the British. Underline four food. __________________ Underline four sports. __________________ Which food do Australians like most? / Which sport do Australians like most? Why are Australians like the British in so many ways? The first pioneers are British. So many Australians have British relatives. (C) Read Para 3 Play a putting game. Get the Ss put the kangaroo, trees and grass, koala, and rocks into the different parts of the map. What’s the weather like in Wenzhou at the time? When will you choose to visit Australia? (D) Read Para 4 T: If you meet an Australian, what will you say to them? G’day=Hello! No worries=Don’t worry about the problems. Show some other expressions of Australian English. And get Ss to match the meaning. 【设计意图】 1. 学生通过对问题的回答,培养学生在快速阅读中寻找所需信息,并培养学生的总结、概括能力。 2. 通过阅读和练习,要求学生根据文章内容辨认捕捉细节信息,并完成问题。并为后续输出和整个模块中心任务的实施奠定了良好的基础。 Step IV Post- reading (I) How was Tony’s trip? (II) What do you think of Australia? (III) Groupwork If you have a chance to visit Australia, what do you want to try? Get Ss to make a report: G’day, every one! If we have a chance to visit Australia, the place that we’d like to visit is….. Because….. And the food that we want to … is…. What’ more, the sport/animal that……is ….. Because….. Ta! 【设计意图】 学以致用,定语从句的语用功能。 Step V Homework I. Read the passage in Unit 2 twice. II. Find out information about your favorite place and write a passage about it. 教学反思 学生在圈关键词环节有困难,抓不住要点,可能会被其他细节干扰,在以后的教学和引导的过程中可能要给学生更好的引导和阅读策略的指导。在最后一个环节过程中,给学生准备的时间较少,信息量很大,前面上得有点赶,最后一个环节要留足更多的时间给他们准备。
