【新课导航】本模块以友谊为话题，同学们可以通过听说和阅读，学会运用宾语从句谈论友谊的话题。本模块的语法是宾语从句。

1.I ask your secretary whether she could come or not.
whether是否:Ask him whether he can come.问他是否能来。
Whether...or not... 是...〔还是〕...，不管…(还是〕…
*if与whether:
if和whether都可以引导宾语从句，常常可以互换，表示“是否〞。如：
I don’t know whether〔=if〕I should tell him.
我不知道是否应该告诉他。 但两者也有微妙的差异:
① 在动词不定式之前只能用whether 。如：
    I can’t decide whether to stay. 我不能决定是否留下。
②在whether …… or not 的固定搭配中。如：
  I want to know whether it’s good news or not . 我想知道是否是好消息。
③在介词后，只能用whether。如： His father is worried about whether he lose his work . 他的父亲担忧是否会失去工作。
④宾语从句放在句首表示强调时，只能用whether 。如：
Whether this is true or not, I really don’t know. 这是否真的，我真的不知道。
⑤用if会引起歧义时，只用whether。如：
      例12 Could you tell me if you know the answer ?
      这句话有两种意思：“你能告诉我是否知道答案吗？〞或“如果你知道答案，请告诉我，好吗？〞。如用whether可防止歧义.

*find+sb/sth+adj 如，I found the story interesting.
*find it +adj +to do sth 如，I find it necessary to get a map while travelling.

四、语法聚焦：
1.本模块的重点语法宾语从句。
2.概念:一般情况下,放在动词或介词后面的句子,叫宾语从句.
3.宾语从句根据其表达意义的肯定与疑问的差异可分为三类,一类由that 引导,一类由whether/if 引导,还有一类由疑问词引导.
4.that引导的宾语从句:当谓语动词表示肯定的概念时,后面的句子一般用that引导,that没有任何意义,只具有语法功能. 有时,that可省。
5.whether\if引导的宾语从句:如果我们表达一个不确定的概念时,如记不清,不知道,问,想知道等,就要用whether/if来连接,一般情况下,两个都可以用.但如果后面有or not的话,一般要选用whether,构成whether…or not的结构.宾语从句除了用that,if,whether引导外,我们还可以用when,where,how,why等疑问词连接.
6.宾语从句三要素：
引导词，语序，时态
语序：从句用陈述句语序。
时态：如果主句是一般现在时，从句可以用任意时态。如果主句是一般过去时，从句用过去的时态。有一种情况特殊，如果从句是表示客观真理，不管主句是什么时态，从句都应用一般现在时。

Do you know how to write an English letter and envelope?

4.lonely与alone区别：
