They are ordinary female, weak and suffering. The bondage of old times and the unequal of fat

4、e do not stop them from pursuing their dreams and marching towards the direction of happiness .However, they ended up with different results. The paper mainly deal with three characters:1) Tess created by Thomas hardy 2) Jane Eyre of charlotte Bronte , Charlotte Bronte is a famous female writer in V

5、ictorian Age.Elizabeth in pride and prejudice written by Jane Austin. Firstly, the paper tells the personality of the heroines briefly. Then it tries to find out the source of their personality from the viewpoint of the writer and their background. Finally it proves the theory of “Personality Decide

One after another famous women appeared in the history and literature works. No matter what roles they played in the

8、history and literature works, they all managed to touch us in some way. No matter what results they may end up with, they all tried their best to rebel against their unequal destiny .No matter whether they win the battle or not in the end, they all told the world by the example of themselves that th

9、e power of women should not be ignored. Some people think that there are no reason, the destiny of human being are arranged by god. Others argue that the background of them is the reason. I cant deny that there is some truth in their saying, but just partially. As for me, the destinies of human bein

10、g are in the hands of themselves .and their destinies are closely connected with their personality. Let us uncover the mystery of literary works and find out the reason for their destiny. The story of women now still shines brilliantly in the famous literary works and vividly in our mind. The paper

11、mainly tells us three representative characters, Elizabeth, Jane Eyre, and Tess. Firstly, the paper tells the personality of the heroines briefly. Then it tries to find out the source of their personality from the viewpoint of the writer and their background. Finally it proves the theory of “Persona

13、troduction of Their Personality2.1 Jane Eyre: a representee of the awaken of feminist Jane Eyre is a great female created by charlotte Bronte. The reason for her great is that she is the representee of feminist. The novel mainly told us how an ordinary girl, Jane Eyre, pursues her extraordinary love

Jane is a strong-willed, fiery-passionate, self-respect, independent minded woman who fights bravely for her own right as individual human being, and look for the true love and marriage The development of Jane Eyres character is central to the novel. From the beginning, Jane possesses a sense of h

15、er self-worth and dignity, a commitment to justice and principle, a trust in God, and a passionate disposition. Her integrity is continually tested over the course of the novel, and Jane must learn to balance the frequently conflicting aspects of her so as to find contentment. Although she is unequa

16、l in social states, she pursues the equableness in spirit. Jane Ire is Rochesters intellectual equal. Moreover, after their marriage is interrupted by the disclosure that Rochester is already married to Bertha Mason, Jane is proven to be Rochesters moral superior. In a way we can say Jane Eyre is a

17、typical Cinderella as she is a normal girl without beauty right and money. However, she is different, instead of waiting for the prince to rescue her; she rescues herself and wins happiness and true love by her self. There is no denying that the love of Jane Eyre is the truest love as, from the begi

18、nning, her love avoided the temptation of wealth right and appearance. 2.2 Tess a tragedy girl with a double personality Tess is a distinctive girl made by the great tragedy master Thomas Hardy, who is called” Shakespeare of English novel”. The novel mainly tells a poor girls life and her tragedy de

19、stiny. Tess is a beautiful, innocent, kind and industrious girl. She is tolerant and willing to sacrifice .she tried her best to escape the tragedy of her life. However, she succumbed to her fate finally Tess is a vivid example of double personality .she is strong and weak, which is especially obvio

20、us .when faced with the vital turning point of her life. She is independent and self esteem. However, in order to save the economic problem of her family, she went to claim kinship at the order of her father, with the tragedy result of being seduced and pregnant. She has a strong desire for pure lov

21、e, but lost herself in face of love as she confessed to her husband her past, with the result of being deserted. She would rather work very hard to earn a living than live on the mercy of others. But when faced with the situation of poverty after her fathers death, she chose to become a mistress and

22、 missed herself again. Finally, when her beloved came back, she had no other choice but to end her life and tragedy by killing the initiator of her evil, Alec dUrbervilles. A brave behavior, a weak mind. Her heart and soul is teased apart by her double personality and push her to the abyss of hell,

23、making her an innocent angle waiting for the salvation3.1 Elizabeth a girl who rebel against the tradition of marriage Elizabeth is a character created by Jane Austin in the novel This is a unique romantic and realistic works which revolt against the secular concept. Pride and prejudice is the most

24、beautiful and romantic love stories that Jane Austen presented to us,which tells us a story about love and marriage. In this novel,the hero Mr. Darcy and the heroin Elizabeth fall in love with each other. But they dont realize it or we can say that they dont want to admit it because Mr. Darcy is so

25、elegant and pride that it gives Elizabeth a false image that the man is not worth loving. But later,after witnessing the tragedy of her sisters marriage,Elizabeth begins to view Mr. Darcy in a reasonable way. And also,Mr. Darcy has realized that he is too elegant and begins to change. At last,the tw

26、o persons express their feelings to each other and create a legend of love Let us have knowledge of her personality. She is a girl of high self esteem, splendid intelligence and steadfast morality. She dares to rebel against her destiny. She pursues the freedom and equality of her soul. She is full

27、of emotion and in want of a true and meaningful love. From “you are the last man in the world I would marry to “to choose him as her husband. The flip and flop is aromatically but also reasonable. It is her extraordinary personality that justifies. She dares to refuse Darcy, regardless of his wealth

28、 and states. It originates from her pride and self esteem. Elizabeths different attitudes of the proposal actually had showed that female pursued independent personality and equal right. This is the progressive meaning of this figure. Finally, she accepts his love as she is brave and has the courage

29、 to pursue her happiness. Her self reflection, lively conscious, which purges her of pride and prejudice, makes up the light of comic grace that leaves the reader in delight. In my point of view, we should applause for her, instead of envy her.Chapter3 what makes the difference of their personality?

30、3.1 The personality of the character are the reflection of the writer Jane Eyre, the soul of charlotte Bronte It is no wonder to find that Jane Eyre and charlotte Bronte are so much alike in personality and life experience as Jane Eyre is the soul of charlotte BronteJane Eyre is the coherence of cha

31、rlotte Brontes personality emotion and willpower. The lust, aspiration and suffering in real life are extracted and purified in the course of literary creation. This poetic, imaginative story of the love of a young governess for her married employer also has undoubted connections with Charlottes exp

32、eriences in Brussels. Just like Charlotte herself, when we have read Jane Eyre, we will know most personal qualities about Charlotte Bronte. To some extent, we can say Jane is Charlotte. Charlotte uses the high romantic spirit in Jane Eyre. In the end of story, Jane and Rochester has a happy life, b

33、ut when Charlotte marries her fathers curate, the Reverend Arthur Bell Nicholls, only to die after a brief period of great happiness nine months late. When she died, she was only thirty-nine.3.2 the background of their time and life environment. The publication of Tess of the DUrbervilles has arouse

34、d much dispute since its appearance with the subtitle of “Tess an innocent girl” .T he author can explain himself among so many different views as it reflects his pursuit in his time. In order to have a better understanding of the heroine, we should know its background firstly. The novel appeared in

In the middle of the nineteenth century, capitalism established its solid foundation in England .with the victory of English capitalism, the remnants of the country life are inevitably destroyed. Hardys works reflect the rural town of capit

36、alism after the British invasion caused by the socio-economic, political, moral, customs and other areas, as well as the profound changes in people (especially women) to the tragic destiny, and expose the bourgeois moral, legal and religious hypocrisy sexual. His works nexus, while inheriting the cr

37、itical realism of the British tradition of excellence, as well as the 20th century British literature opened up the road. In the viewpoint of Hardy, the inherent healthy nature lifestyle has destroyed by the “civilization”of capitalism, which in return brings the human being and the whole world to g

38、reat tragedy. In the novel, Hardy uses the character of Tess, an innocent girl, and her tragedy life to express his opposition of his time. In this way, we can say the tragic fate is not only that of Tess herself, but also the tragedy of the times she lived in.Chapter4 Tragedy and Comedy4.1 Jane Eyr

39、e and Elizabeth The reason for us to put Jane Eyre and Elizabeth together is that both of them end up with comedy with totally different social states. Jane Eyre is an orphan who is brought up by her aunt. Her parents died when she was a baby, her three cousins as well as her aunt all hate her very

40、much so that they finally sent her to a boarding school with extremely bad living conditions, so she rarely gained love and warm from the family and passed her childhood unhappily. In a word, Jane Eyre started her life with no parents, no money, and terrible family environment. Elizabeth Benet was b

41、orn in a comparatively decent middle class family. She was the second daughter and was deeply loved by her family, especially by her father and her elder sister Jane. They take care of her happiness and totally support her choices. She is her fathers favorite daughter and inherits his good manner, i

42、ntelligence and sharp wit. But we cannot ignore the disharmonious factor in her family, her mother and her little sister Lydia. Mrs. Benet was an ill mannered and narrow minded woman; all she cares is that her daughters can get married with a rich man and regardless of their happiness. Generally spe

43、aking, Elizabeth lives a peaceful and comfortable family life. The similarities between Jane Eyre and Elizabeth are that they are great and common women. They are common because they are the one in the society and every woman may come across the same thing as them. They are great because they have t

44、he courage to challenge the social norms and making a right decision under great pressure both from their family and the society, they pursue the pure love and in order to love they can make sacrifices. Although they are not the perfect women and have many shortcomings, their spirit, advanced opinio

45、ns and lovely characters still deserve peoples praise. By the analysis the story of them, we can arrive at the conclusion that people have every reason to pursue their happiness regardless of social states, right, appearance and wealth. 4.2Eyre and Tess Jane Eyre and Tess are so much alike as they w

46、ere both born very poor and miserable. Whats more, they all pursuit of self-esteem, independence and happiness. However, their destiny went at the opposite way. Then what makes the difference? In fact, it is their distinctive personality that makes the difference. Jane Eyre has the courage to rebel

47、against her unfortunate fate. Even though she has no fame wealth and beauty, she still dares to declare equal in spirit. In a way, Tess is more fortune than Jane Eyre as she is beautiful .Although she also tried to fight for her happiness, she succumb to her fate at last. And it is her distinctive p
