Step 1.Learn the new words. 1a
Show students some real objects or pictures (radio, tape player, tape, clock, model plane, hat …), have students try to say them in English. If the students can’t read some of them, teach them how to read.
Then let the students match the words with the things in the pictures.
Check answers.
Step 2. 1b
Three minutes for the students to look and remember the words in 1a, then close their books and write down all the words they have remembered.
Ask the students to open their books and check their work.
Step 3 Listening
1c and 1d.

Firstly, tell the main idea to the students about the listening, that is : Tom wants some things from his mother, let the students listen, what are they?
Play the tape for one time for the students to listen and finish 1c .
Check answers.
For the second time, tell the students the listening points again, that is: Where are the things? Then play the tape for them to listen.
If necessary, play the tape again or let them listen sentence by sentence.
Check answers.
Third, ask the students to read after the listening materials. Then act them out.
Step 4 Ask and answer questions about the things in Tom’s room as the following examples.
A: Where are the English book?
B: They’re under the radio.
Let the students pay attention to the use of be , it and they.
Step 5. Homework
Write the dialogues about 1e down on the exercise book.
