肥东县城关中学集体备课材料 备课组:高一英语 时间:2016.3.13. 主备人:蔡志刚 教案: Unit 11 The Media Lesson 1 World News First Period 教材分析 本课是第11单元的第1课。本课的语篇是两条新闻。学生将在本课了解媒体的各种形式,解读世界要点新闻。学习有关媒体形式的词汇,通过skimming、scanning等环节理解文章大意。学生要能运用阅读策略,通过图片、新闻标题获取文章内容信息,把握主旨大意。 教学内容 话题: 1. 非洲问题摆上八国首脑峰会议题;2. 伦敦赢了 (阅读) 词汇: 重点词汇: be made up of, demand, cancel, escape, host, cheer, delight, prevent … from, announce 相关词汇: wealthy, political, major, historical, painful, powerful, widespread, poverty, electricity, health care administration, reform, belief, debt, Olympic Games, International Olympic Committee, crowd, the rush hour, evidence, incident, attack, explanation Teaching Objectives: After this period of learning, students will be able to: 1. know the different forms of media; 2. mater the new words, phrases and expressions from the text; 3. learn the main idea of the text by skimming and the specific information of the texts by scanning; 4. learn to use the strategy of reading titles and pictures of the news before reading news; 5. know the basic structure of news in foreign culture and create their own news. Teaching important points: 1. Ss mater the new words, phrases and expressions from the text; 2. Ss learn the main idea of the text by skimming and the specific information of the texts by scanning; 3. Ss learn to use the strategy of reading titles and pictures of the news before reading news; Teaching difficult points: 1. Ss learn the main idea of the text by skimming and the specific information of the texts by scanning; 2. Ss know the basic structure of news in foreign culture and create their own news. Teaching methods: Brainstorming, Asking questions, Explanation, CLT/TBLT Teaching aids: Multi-media(PPT), Blackboard. Teaching process: 注: IP=Interactive Pattern; T=Teacher; Ss=Students; CW=Class Work; IW=Individual Work; PW= Pair Work; GW=Group Work 步骤 Steps 教学活动 Activities 设计意图 Intentions 互动模式 IP Warm-up Step 1 T introduces his or her daily life related to the media, e.g. In the morning on my way to school, I often listen to the CRI news on the radio. My favorite TV programme is sports. 教师通过介绍自己的日常生活,可以吸引学生的注意力,引起他们的兴趣。 CW Step2 Ss brainstorm as many words related to the media as possible. T shows some pictures and asks, “Where do we get news from?” (PPT 1) 归纳、总结媒体词汇,为后面的话题做铺垫。 GW -- CW Pre-reading Step 3 T asks “What areas of the world are often in the news at the moment? Why?” and asks some students to share their news with the whole class. Then T shows some pictures of lastest news in the world. (US tornado, David Beckham’s goodbye...) (PPT2-4) 引出话题,激活学生的背景知识。 CW Step 4 T asks Ss to predict what will be talked about in the news based on the title, the picture.(PPT 5-6) 根据标题、图片和已获得信息预测阅读内容,帮助学生理解课文,培养学生利用背景知识进行阅读的策略。 IW While-reading Step 5 First reading (skimming): Ss skim the two pieces of news and check their prediction and answer the following question: 1. What does G8 stand for? 2. Which nations are in the “G8”? 3. Where was theG8 meeting held? 4. When and where are London announced to be the host city of 2012 Olympic Games? 核对预测信息,了解新闻大意和主要信息。 IW – PW Step 6 Second reading (scanning):Ss separately read the two pieces of news once again with the following questions: 1. Why is this year’s going to be remembered as a historical meeting?2. What are the two major problems in Africa?3. What does widespread poverty cause?4. How can the G8 nations help Africa’s poorest countries? 1. Why was this news important to London? 2. Which cities had made applications to host the games? 3. How were people in London reacting to this news? 4. What did Prince William say about this news? (T explain the new words to Ss before their reading) Ss work in pairs and check the information they get from the news. Then T gets the feedback from the whole class. (PPT 12-13) 提取和整理课文细节信息。 IW – PW – CW Step 7 Third reading: Ss read the news in detail and find some specification information about G8 and then fill in the blanks. (PPT 14-16) 提取和整理课文细节信息。 IW – GW – CW Post-reading Step 8 Ss match the main ideas with each paragraph. Then T explains the basic structure of news in the text by giving charts and pictures and examples of newspapers. 老师向学生介绍并使其了解在外国文化中报纸新闻的基本结构。 IW – PW – CW Step 9 Pair work: Ss work in pairs and create their own news. Before they start, T should give an example to demonstrate how to create good news following the right structure of news. 学生掌握新闻的基本结构并学会输出,将身边的事情写成一篇新闻报道,鼓励他们输出语言并留心身边的事情。 IW – PW Step 10 Ss listen to the tape and read aloud after the tape. 有声输入,整体感知,培养学生语感。 CW Homework: Ss write down their own news. Teaching Reflections: 1. In this lesson, I have asked too many questions during the 2nd reading, so I had better change some different forms of questions to check Ss’ understanding. 2. I have put too much stress on the structure, which should be weakened. Beside, the task given to Ss after reading is a little bit difficult. I should have make the task easier for Ss to do.
