Unit 9 What does he look like? Section A Grammar Focus – 3c Teaching and learning aims学习目标: 一、知识和能力目标 1.学生能正确练习运用有关人物外貌特征的词汇和句型较准确的描述人物的外貌特征。 2.能掌握以下重点句型: What does he look like? He’s really tall. What does she look like? She has long straight hair. He isn’t tall or short. He is of medium hight. 3.掌握正确运用have动词和be动词的描述任务外貌的方法。 4.能正确使用选择疑问句询问人的外貌并进行简单问答。 Do they have straight or curly hair? They have curly hair. Is he tall or short? He isn’t tall or short. He’s of medium height. 二、学习策略 strategies 借助多媒体课件、教学一体机等信息教学手段,使用自主学习、图文对话、小组合作等多种形式来熟练的谈论和表述“某人的外貌特征”。 三、文化知识culture 了解中西方文化中描述人物外貌特征的不同,并通过学习来提高他们的观察和判断能力。 四、情感态度与价值观 通过对他人的描述,增进人与人之间的关系,更加关心、爱身边的人。培养学生尊重他人、理解他人的品德,不以貌取人。 Teaching and Learning Steps(教学步骤): Step 1 Previewing and testing Translate these phrases and sentences into English. 1. 长直发2. 卷发_______________     3. 中等身高_______________  4. 中等体型_______________ 5.最喜爱的女演员_______________ 6. 相当英俊_______________ 7.她长得怎么样?_______________ 8. 她留着长直发。_______________ 9.他们留着直发还是卷发? _______________ 10. 他不高也不矮,是中等身高. _______________ (设计意图:通过对学生对本节课预习情况的检查,了解学生的预习情况,1—6小题主要为中下等学生设计,便于其掌握基础知识,提高他们学习英语的信心,7—10小题为中上等学生设计,使教师对本节课的教学目标达成情况和重点训练的方向心中有数,为下一步的教学做好铺垫。) Step 2 Warming up and leading in ( Play a game) . Let’s be detectives. (侦探) A Find the thief He is of medium height and fat. He has little hair and always wears glasses. B Find the hit-run (肇事)driver She is of medium build and has two big eyes. She is also tall and has curly hair, she never wears glasses. (设计意图:通过多媒体课件展示图片来让学生完成游戏,一方面吸引学生的注意力,培养学生学习英语的兴趣,另一方面也可以复习巩固所学知识,为下一步的教学打下基础。) Step 3 在语境中感知语法 Task1. Read and understand Teacher: Boys and girls, now look at Grammar Focus, please read and translate all the sentences , then ask and answer in pairs like this: A: 他长的怎么样? B:. What does he look like? A: 他相当高。 B: He is really tall. A….. B… Ask some pairs to act it out. Task2. Sum up. Attention:描述人物哪些外貌特征时用is, 哪些外貌特征用has。 身高(Height) 体格(Build) 头发(Hair) David He’s tall. He’s heavy. He has curly hair. Sally She’s of medium height She’s thin. She has long straight hair. Peter He’s short. He has short hair. Sentence pattern He/She is tall/short. He/She is of… He/She is heavy/thin. He/She is of… He/She has …hair. Teacher can add more sentences with pictures. A: What does he/she look like? B: He/She is/has… The baby has a round face. Jackie Chan has a big nose. Chen Xiaoyu has black eyes. Gong Li wears glasses. 自主探究梳理1:What does he look like? 用来询问某人的外貌,意为________________? look like是一个短语,意思是“________”,在句中作谓语时,通过的变化来体现人称、时态和数的变化,其中like作介词时,意为“________”。What is he like?用来询问某人的性格,意为“__________” 。What does he like?中的like是动词,意为“________”,因此这个结构是用来询问人的爱好或习惯的。 He is of medium height,他中等身高,She has long curly hair, 她留着长卷发。在这两个句子中,is 为系动词,后多接形容词做表语,用于描述______、______;has 后一般接名词短语,用于描述______、______、______等。wear一般用作及物动词,用于描述______、______、______等。 Task3 一般疑问句和选择疑问句 A: Is he tall? B: Yes, he is. A: Is he tall or short? B: He’s tall. A: Is she short? B: No, she isn’t. A: Is she heavy or thin? B: She’s heavy. A: Does she have curly hair? B: Yes, she does. A: Does he have curly hair or short hair? B: He has curly hair. A: Does he have a big nose? B: No, he doesn’t. A: Does she have big eyes or small eyes? B: She has big eyes. 自主梳理探究2: 选择疑问句中的两个选择项目用__________________连接,回答时不能用______或______回答,而是根据实际情况选择符合事实的陈述句。 (设计意图:本环节先让学生感知语法,初步让他们了解is和has在描述人物外貌特征中的区别,再通过图表和图片加深理解,让学生完全掌握此用法,本环节的关键是学生的自我探究和总结,只有让学生自己理解,他们掌握的效果才能达到最好。) Step 4 Practice Task1: Write these words in the correct box. Then tell your partner about them. Students finish by themselves first. Then check the answers and say out what reasons they do. Does he/she wear glasses? ____________________________________________________________________________ (设计意图:写作是对学生笔头的书写训练,教师可以引导学生对他们最喜爱的演员、老师的脸型、五官、配饰、眼镜等各方面来着手,进一步熟悉本单元描述人物外貌特征的句型,突出本单元的语言目标。) Task2: Play a game: Who is he/she? Teacher can ask a student to come to the front of the classroom and describes someone in the class, the other students guess who is he/she. (设计意图:利用猜谜游戏形式,训练学生的口头表达能力,让学生通过他人的描述,去发现别人的外部特征,并学会通过别人的描述推理出某一人物,激发学生积极参与的表演欲望,活跃课堂气氛,提高学生学习英语的兴趣,培养学生听、说以及辨别能力,并且学生的误区会在其他同学的指正下改正。) Step 7 情感体验 Don't judge a person by his appearance.(不要以貌取人。) 1.外表的美只能取悦于人的眼睛,而内在的美却能感染人的灵魂。 The appearance of the beauty can only please one's eyes, while the inner beauty can infect human soul. 2.一个人的价值并不在于他的外表。 A person's value lies not in his appearance. (设计意图:让学生阅读西方有关于容貌的格言,培养学生正确的人生观,懂得客观的看待一个人的容貌,懂得理解他人,尊重他人,不以美丑评价别人一个人的价值。) Step 8 The end-of-class test. 一、翻译句子 1. 他长得什么样? _______ _______ he _______ _______? 2. 她是一个满头卷发的可爱的女孩。 She is a _______ girl _______ _______ _______. 3. 我中等个。 I ____ ____ _________ _________. 4. 他体形居中。 He ____ _____ _________ _______. 5. 他又高又瘦。 He is _______ and _______. 二、 用or来连词组成选择疑问句 1. you / have / tea / coffee do 2. (用orange改为选择疑问句) 三、 改错。(选做题) 下面每句中均有一处错误,请你在错误的地方用横线标出,在下面改正;缺漏的地方用^号标注,并在下面添上。 My brother Jim have a friend, her name Jenny. Copy the sentences in grammar focus three times. 2. Describe your family members and draw a picture of them(at least five sentences). 本课亮点: 1、 使用多媒体课件做游戏热身导入,在复习上节课所学知识的同时,激发学生学习兴趣。 2、 情感教育不单一,以西方名言教育学生树立正确的情感态度价值观,利于培养学生的修养和内涵。 3、 本节课的练习设计紧紧围绕教学目标,通过多种形式,引导学生观察、发现、总结、归纳知识要点,并注意了知识由易到难的层次性。 使用建议: 在step6 task2中,如时间允许,教师还可以提倡小组互相表演,让学生说出相邻一组的同学的容貌,另一组同学去猜。 不足:本节课的衔接方面不够流畅,略有呆板。 教学反思: 本节课总结询问和描述人物外貌的功能句型以及相应回答,包括以what引导的一般现在时的特殊疑问句、选择疑问句以及相应的回答,教学设计方面体现了由易到难的层次性。通过多种形式的多媒体课件步步深入,紧扣教学目标,每一个环节的设计都由上一个环节基础知识而来,开放性的输出活动带有游戏性质,符合学生的生活实际,使学生的学习内容更加丰富,语言的表达也随之复杂。德育情感的教学活动设计由“不以貌取人”引出两个西方格言,利于培养学生的情感态度价值观。 Keys: Step 1 Previewing and testing Translate these phrases and sentences into English. 1. long straight hair 2.curly hair    3. medium height  4.
