Period One New words and Phrases Teaching and learning Goals: 一、语言知识和语言功能: 1.能争取学会使用下列词汇造句子。 meeting, video, organize (=organise), upset, taxi, advice, travel, themselves, teenager, normal unless, certainly, wallet, worried, mile, angry, understanding, careless, mistake, himself, careful advise, solve, step, trust, experience 2. 能争取学会使用下列常用短语造句子。 agent, expert, halfway 3. 要求学生认读下列词汇。 potato chips, keep…to oneself, in the end, in half 二、学习策略: 1. 依据图片记忆词汇。(Remember the words and phrases with the help of the pictures.) 2. 在语境中理解和记忆词汇。(Understand and remember the words and phrases in the context.) 3. 依据读音规则、构词规律理解和记忆词汇。(Understand and remember the words and phrases according to phonetic rules, the structures of the words and phrases.) 4. 基于同伴互助的方式学习词汇,并运用新学词汇与同伴交流。(Learn and express with the new words in groups.) 三、情感态度: 学习因果关系的表达和做出合理的建议。谈论自己的感受,同时使学生在英语交流中注意并观察他人的情感。 【设计意图】 Teaching and learning steps: Step I. Showing learning Goals and leading -in T: Do you like going to the party? How will you feel if you go to the party? S: Yes, I do. I will feel happy if I go to the party. (The teacher can help them say it). T: OK. Let’s listen to an English song “If You Are Happy.” Look at the video and try to sing with it. (Play the video) You must be happy after watching it. Well, Today we’ll learn Unit10. Now we begin to learn new words and expressions in Unit10. 【设计意图】学生们观赏着动画和音乐愉快地进入学习状态。 Step II Learn how to read the new words of Unit10. (P130-131) 1. Ask the Ss to try reading the new words in Unit 10 according to phonetics by themselves and mark the words they can not read.(the words may be: organize, teenager, certainly, experience and so on..) 【设计意图】先让学生根据音标试读单词应该不成问题,同时让学生把可能读不准的单词画下来,培养他们自学的习惯和能力。) 2. Let the Ss work in groups of four to help each other to get more correct pronunciation. 【设计意图】让学生分组解决那些可能读不准的单词,培养他们自我解决问题的能力和合作学习的良好品质。 3. Play the tape and ask the Ss to read after the tape to correct the pronunciation. All the words are divided into four groups. Some words are marked phonetics so that students can read correctly. 【设计意图】通过跟读录音,让学生自我纠正一些不准确的发音。老师要监控学生,观察他们是否很专注跟读录音了,口型是否正确。 4. Get them to read all the words several times, the teacher walks around the groups to give necessary help. 【设计意图】关注一些学困生和部分“走神”的学生,及时表扬一些学习专注的学生。 5. Get one or two middle-level students to read all the words. Ask other students correct. If necessary, the teacher corrects them. 【设计意图】最后通过检查中等水平的学生读单词,容易发现读错的单词,暴露部分拼读能力不强的同学,及时得到有针对性的帮助,达到争取人人过朗读关。 Step III. Learn how to memorize the new words and phrases on P17-23. 1. Remember the words and phrases according to the pictures. meeting n. 会议;集会 video n. 录像带;录像 They are having a meeting. What is this? It’s a video. potato chips 炸土豆片;炸薯条 Many children love to eat potato chips. chocolate n.. 巧克力 We shouldn’t eat too much chocolate. It’s bad for our health. taxi n. 出租汽车;的士 teenagers n. (13~14岁的)青少年 A woman is going to take a taxi to the hospital. Some teenagers are playing soccer. wallet n. 钱包 Mr. Li lost his wallet on the way to the school. travel v. & n. 旅行,旅历 The girl traveled the whole country on foot. After that she wrote a book about her travels. 【设计意图】图片直观形象,更能吸引学生兴趣,借助图片信息记住单词。 首先让学生根据图片猜测词汇. 然后出示例句,再让学生猜测词意并记住例句。这样学生易于接受、易于直观地理解单词的意思,印象深刻;也易于促进理解、加深记忆。避免孤立地理解和记忆单词。 2.Remember the words by complex words (合成)、 derivative(派生)and comparison(对比). 1.) 合成:将两个或两个以上的单词,合成在一起而构成的新词. up + set →upset adj. 难过;失望;沮丧 half+ way →halfway adj.& adv. 在途中;部分地做(或达到) 2). 派生:即在词根上加前缀或后缀,构成另一个与原意略有变化或截然相反的词。分为两类:即后缀和前缀。 certain(adj. 肯定的)+ly (副词后缀) → certainly adv. 肯定;当然 care (n. 关心)+ less (形容词后缀) → careless adj. 粗心的,不小心的 care (n. 关心)+ ful (形容词后缀) →careful adj. 小心的,细致的 organize(v. 组织) + tion (名词后缀) → organization n. 组织;筹备 travel (n. 旅行) + er (表人的名词后缀) →traveler n. 旅行者;游客 him+ self→ him+self (反身代词后缀) →himself pron. 他自己 3) comparison(对比): 是指在词性上相同,但词义上相反的词 upset adj. 难过的→happy adj. 高兴的 careless adj.粗心的→ careful adj. 小心的 【设计意图】通过构词法学习单词,降低学生记忆的难度,提高学习英语的兴趣。同时也能使学生举一反三,增加学生的词汇量。 2. Remember the phrase by matching itself with its meaning. 1) have a class meeting a. 一半的同学 2) half the class b. 环游世界 3) take a taxi c. 赚很多钱 4) give me some advice d. 保守秘密 5) travel around world e. 开班会 6) make a lot of money f. 乘出租车 7) keep …to oneself g. 第一步 8) make careless mistakes h. 把它分成两半 9) the first step i. 给我一些建议 10) cut it in half j. 犯粗心的错误 【设计意图】通过词意的对比,再英汉连线,使学生加深对这些形容词的理解和记忆。 4. Remember the words according to their similar change. 根据相同/似的单词变化, 能够让学生利用已经学过的单词,去识读新单词;同时也能充分发挥学生的想象力,拓展学生的词汇量。最后,让学生独立完成上面的 表,更能激发学生记单词的积极性,加深记忆。 5. Remember the words by doing a challenge. Step IV. Consolidate the words and phrases 1. First, give the students several minutes to try to memorize the words. 2. Next, ask them to look at the Chinese and say the English while covering the English words and phrases. 3. Then, get students to work in pairs to spell the words or write down the words with the Chinese given in guide books (P110. P114) . Underline the words they haven’t grasped. 4. Finally, ask the Ss to write down the words and phrases they haven’t grasped on their notebooks for reviewing after the class. 【设计意图】此环节为巩固单词。通过朗读记忆,英汉互译检查,最后使用助学默写几种方式,对单词加以巩固。这一环节有少部分的学生不能当堂达标,需要利用自习课或课余的时间让小组长跟踪检查,老师督促,达到人人过关。 Step V. Learn how to use the new words and phrases in a story. 1. Please read this story and pay attention to the new words in red. We had a class meeting yesterday afternoon. After it, Mary asked me to come to her home and watched a video. It was a travel that her father organized last summer. Her family traveled to Hangzhou. I was happy to hear that. I bought some potato chips and chocolate. I took a taxi to Mary’s home. I had a good time there. But I lost my wallet on my way to home. I was very upset. I was afraid to tell my parents about it I kept it to myself. I had to walk three miles to school each day because I didn’t have any money. In fact, problems and worries are normal for teenagers in life. Unless we talk to someone, we’ll certainly feel worse. In the end I talked to my parents and they weren’t angry. They were really understanding. My father said he sometimes made careless mistakes himself. They got me a new wallet and asked me be more careful. Robert Hunt is an expert He advises students about common problems. He said,”It’s not to run away from our problems. We should always try to solve them.” He thinks the first step is to find someone you trust to talk to. We should get advice from my parents. Because they have more experience. We say that sharing a problem is like cutting it in half. Do you think so? 2. Translate the story into Chinese in groups of two. Do you think so? 【设计意图】1.词不离句,句不离文。词汇教学应采用词—句—文的教学模式,让学生将单词用到句子和语篇中,让学生在具体的语境中,体会单词和短语的意义。 2.利用刚才呈现的短文进行挖空练习,加深理解和巩固本节课的单词,更进一步地做到对单词的记忆,理解和应用。同时减轻复述上面的文章难度,让绝大多数的学生能填写,能翻译,增强信心。 Step VI. Exercises: the end-of- class test. (当堂检测) 一、根据句意及首字母或汉语提示完成单词。 1. If I have enough money, I will t______ around the world. 2. You should be c_______ when you cross the street. 3. ( ★★★ ) 本节课的亮点: 1.  通过不同形式让学生学习,记住并运用单词,让单词放在具体语境中运用,达到学以致用目的,争取课堂上能让更多的学生掌握所学,减轻课下学习的负担。 2. 积极调动每个学生的学习热情,参与课堂,体验学习的乐趣,感受成功带来的自信。 3. 让学生听单词时,采取分三部分听。便于学生听得准,及时矫正。思维导图和短文有机结合,对所学单词从整体上达到巩固效果。 4. 家庭作业分层布置,让能力不同的同学,做更能体现他们各自水平的作业。 不足之处: 一节课的时间毕竟有限,不能面面俱到,还需在以后的复习中查缺补漏和加大检查的广度。 使用建议: 1. 首先,要熟练掌握本单元教学内容,明确单词词组在单元中的位置及其用法;同时注意两人或多人小组合作或帮扶学习的方式使用, 加大检查普及率,增大学生合作学习活动的广度、力度,才能有效地增加课堂效率。 2. 其次,教师课前准备要充分,使用多媒体或交互式一体机教学,提高课堂效率。 3. 最后,当堂检测要求学生同位互批,错题小组讨论解决,体现学生的互助合作精神。 参考答案: Step V.
