Unit 3 What color is it?
Ⅰ. Programmes for the Unit
1. Status and Function
The language goals of Starter Unit 3 are letters S-Z and Identify colours. At the same time the teacher must tell students to pay attention to pronunciation of letters A,E,I,O,U. Such topic is related to students’ daily life,so it is helpful to raise students’ learning interest.
(1)In the first period,students will learn Section A. This section contains letters S-Z and the target language What color is it?It’s red. What’s this?It’s V. So students are active in these activities.
(2)In the second period students will learn Section B and Self Check. All the activities in this period provide students with more listening practice and oral practice using the target language. Students will understand the pronunciation of letters A,E,I,O,U.

it是句中作主语,代替刚提到过的一件事物。如:This is letter Y. It’s yellow.

Ⅱ. 相关资料
1. 食指和中指伸张开表示“胜利”之来历。
对高举右手或双手伸出张开食指和中指这一手势,中国人习惯是指数字“2”,英美则指“胜利”。因食指和中指伸张开构成V字形,表示Victory。这一姿势首创于第二次世界大战期间,同盟国用这一手势表示相互致敬、勉励和战胜法西斯的决心和信心。
2. 含有全部26个字母的最短英文句子。
打字机行的工作人员在检查新打字机的英文字母字迹是否清晰时,常在打字机上打出下列的句子:The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. (那只敏捷的棕色狐狸纵身跃过那条懒狗。)为什么他要打出这样的句子?那是因为这个短短的句子包括从a到z的全部26个英文字母。半个世纪以来,打字机行一直沿用这个句子作为检查打字机字迹是否清晰的方法。据说,多年来曾有不少人费尽脑汁想编写出也含有a到z却比它更短的句子,但始终没有成功。
3. 英语中很多表达法与颜色有关,但不能望文生义。
(1)黑色不黑。black sheep(败类);black dog(沮丧);black tea(红茶);black coffee(未加糖或奶的浓咖啡)。
(2)白色不白。 white nights(不眠之夜);white room(无菌室);white lie(没有恶意的谎言);white elephant(无用之物)。
(3)黄色不黄。yellow dog(懦夫);yellow boy指“金币”而不是“黄色小孩子”。yellow book指法国等政府或议会发表的报告书,并非是“黄色书刊”。
(4)蓝色不蓝。blue moon(千载难逢之机);blue blood指的是“贵族血统”。
(5)绿色不绿。green hand指的是“新手”。
