Step1 Warming-up and revision
Enjoy an English song
Greeting :Ask students “Where does he/she live?” “Where do I live?”,give students the answer“I live in this neighborhood”(show Ss the picture on the screen).

•Direct Ss’attention to the picture on the screen
and ask Ss “What’s this?”,present the names of the places on the board.Refer to 1a and 1b in Section A on p7.

•Have Ss look at the picture on the screen again and ask“Is/Are there ...?”,present Ss the answers “Yes,there is/are.” “No,there isn’t /aren’t.”.
•Have Ss look at the picture and the example question and answer.Invite volunteers to role-play the dialogues.

Step1 Warming-up
Review the target language taught last lesson by asking Ss“Is/Are there...?”
such as “Is there a post office?”.

Step2. Word-Teach
. .Point to the park,say“where is the park?”get the response”It’s on Center Street”from Ss,tell Ss we can use other prepositions to describe the location of the park,present the new prepositions.
.Put the prepositions on the board,have Ss repeat.
.To reinforce the understanding,refer to 2a,2b on Page 8 in the book.
.Check the answers by asking Ss “where is...?”

Step4.Guessing Game.
Goal: This activity provides an oral review of where a place is.
Procedures: Invite a student to come to the front of the classroom. And then describe a place which the student are familiar with.
For example, he or she may say, it is on Center Street. It’s next to the supermarket. While he or she is describing the rest take turn asking .Is it a school ? Is it a pay phone? Etc.
The game goes on until they can guess it.
Step5. Competition
•Focus Ss’attention to the picture on the screen.Choose 4 Ss from different group,give each of them 2 minutes to describe the location of a place to see the can say the most different descriptions of one place in the limited time.
Model a dialogues on the board,have Ss repeat.
.Orgnize Ss into groups of 4,have them take out their cards of places on the desk and imagine each card as a real place,have them take turns practicing the diagog by changing the locations of their cards.
.Have less advanced Ss come to the board to perform as places with cards in their hands,have advanced Ss perform the dialogues according to the locations of the “places”in front.

Check the answers in 2b by asking one student to draw the map of Michaels’ neighborhood on the board.
Step 4. Practice
.Use there-be clause to describe the existence of one of the places,have Ss give the rest answers using there-be clause.
.Write the structure of there-be clause on the board.Expain that there-be clause can describe the existence of items,present the negative and interrogative forms of there-be clause.To reinforce the understanding,have Ss make up sentences about the items in the classroom.
Step 5. Guessing game
.Put an example on the board. “The place is scary at night,it’s old and big, there are many trees next to it,there isn’t a house near it,there are always dead people in it.”,have Ss guess which place is being referred to.When each group is reday,have them take turns reading out their descriptions for the rest of the class to guess.
