To make students do asking and answering about continent, country, city and places of interest. b. To improve students’ listening and speaking skill. c. To improve students’ communicative skill. 3. Teaching aids cards, paper cutting of six continents, blackboard, chalks, computer Teaching procedures Step 1: Warm up. 1. Greetings. 2. Revise the cities in China using the main structure in Unit 1. (Xi’an, Hangzhou, Lanzhou) --- Where is …? --- It’s in … province. It’s in the … of china. --- What is … famous for? --- It’s famous for …. Step 2: Lead in. T: Xi’an, Hangzhou, and Lanzhou are cities in China. Can you give me some cities or countries around the world? (brainstorming) Ss: …. T: You did a very good job. Around the world, there are o lot of cities and countries. Do you want to learn more? Today let’s learn Unit 2 Around the World, Lesson 7. Step 3: Presentation. 1. Ask students to open your books and turn to page 14. Can you find the map? It’s a map of world. Look at the blackboard. Through different colors to teacher “content”. Using paper cutting to teach each continent, teach put them up on the blackboard. Then use High-Low voice to consolidate them. 2. Through different ways, teacher guides students to learn the cities, the countries and the continents. Meanwhile, let students recognize their positions like this: Where is …? It’s in…? Eg. Can you find China? Look at the map carefully and point where China is. Present the map of Asia. And say China is in Asia(★prounouciation). ways to teach to extend ways to do drill Spain Bullfight music Spain is in Europe. Game Group A --- Group B Divide students into two groups as fighters for the earth. The prize is planting trees. Showing the cities, countries and continents on the map, choose two students each group to do asking and answering to do the competition. ★ give prize to two groups 4. T: Look! There are so many places around the world. Do you want to know where I want to go this winter vacation? Ok, listen. I’d like to go to Spain. (板书)I’d like to means I want to. So it means I want to go to Spain. Clear? Read two times. Then use vocabulary cards to consolidate “I’d like to go to …” T: I’d like to go to Spain. Where would you like to go this winter vacation, S1? (Guide him/her to answer it using I’d like to go to….) (板书问句并领读两遍) Use vocabulary cards and PPT to do it. Activities: T—S1,S2 S1—S2 pair work ★ give prize to two groups Step4: Practice 1. Present a chant to revise the main structure. a. T reads it. Ss follow it. Read together Group A (Ask)–Group B(answer) b. Take Beijing and Cairo for examples to do the chant again. 2. Dialogue in Get ready. a. Here Andy and Bill are talking about Bill’s winter vacation, too. Let’s listen. b. T: Where would Bill like to go? Bill says … Ss: …. 3. Substitution. Present the main structures on the blackboard, give five pictures including cities, countries and continents and ask students to do substitutions. Activities: T--- Ss Group A (Ask) – Group B(answer) pair work ★ give prize to two groups 4. Part A. a. T: What about our friends Andy, Joy and Yaoyao? Where would they like to go? (返回Get Ready地图) look here. Listen and number Spain, Egypt, the US and Australia. Meanwhile please find who. b. Check the answers. Step5: Production. 1. Using paper cuttings and vocabulary cards to do consolidation. 2. Homework a. Copy the vocabulary five times with translation. b. Copy Part B with translation and write a similar dialogue. c. Finish Part C on books.
