II、Ability goals能力目标 a、Enable the students to understand the expressions about doing chores. b、Make requirements politely and the responds. Teaching important points 教学重点 a、Talk freely with the sentences we learn in this class. b、Remember the words and phrases c、Get the main idea of the listening material of the text. Teaching difficult points 教学难点 a、The remember of the new words and phrases. b、the change of the roles in the two situations and their responses. Teaching aids 教具 Some real objects in the classroom (e.g. broom, trash bag),a computer, a projector and a recorder. Teaching procedures Step1 Leading in (Revise what have been learned in the last class and lead in what will be learned today.) T: What are you going to be when you grow up? S1: I'm going to be a … T: How are you going to do that ? S1: I'm going to … (Do the same with several groups, then continue with the follows.) T: Do you often help your parents do housework at home? S: Yes, I am. T: OK, that's good. Can you tell me what you often do ? You can say in Chinese if you don't know it in English. S: 打扫卫生、洗碗、倒垃圾…… T: Excellent, really. Do you want to know how to say the tasks in English? S: Yes. T: Good. Today we're going to learn “ do chores at home” together. “Do chores”, do you understand? … Yes, very good. It also means “do housework”.(At the same time write “do chores ” down on the blackboard) I think we should learn it carefully and then we can say the tasks in English at home, OK ? Step2 Presentation (Learn 1a—1c) 1 (Show a dish on the Powerpoint. and then show three )This is a dish. (Write the word down on the blackboard, then continue)These are dishes.( Write it down) (Show some dirties on the dishes, continue)These dishes are dirty. Could you please do the dishes? (With body language) (Help the students answer, then write the phrase down on the blackboard) Yes, sure. or OK/ Certainly. (Repeat the dialogue with several students) 2 ( Show some pictures about the living room on the slide , teach: make your bed living room fold your clothes . At the same time practice the dialogues with the students.) T: Could you please clean the living room? Ss: Yes, sure./ Sorry, I have to do my homework first. T: Could you please make your bed ? Ss: Yes, sure./ Sorry, I have to … 3 (Give a student a broom and ask ) T: Could you please sweep the floor? (Help the student answer) S: I'm sorry, I have to have an English class now. 4 (Show students a plastic bag of trash) T: This is trash. ( Write it down on the blackboard and teach ) Could you please take out the trash ? (Use body language to teach “take out”) (Help the student answer) S: I'm sorry, I have to have an English class now. Step3 Pairwork (First use the broom and trash bag in the classroom, then use the pictures shown on the slide show.) Practise the dialogue and then I will ask some to report your work. Let's see who are the best. OK? Now let's begin. Step4 Listening (Play the recorder and show a chart) Next we will listen to a short material, and you should write P or M according to the requirements.. (Check the answers.) Step5 Presentation 1 T: We have learned to do some chores just now. When our parents ask us to do chores, we can help them. But when we are going to do something we want to do ,we should first ask our parents. How to say that, do you want to know? For example, we want to go to the movies. How can we say to our parents? Yes, good. We should say: Could I please go to the movies? (Give out the two answers) Yes, you can./ No, you can't. You have to do your housework. Step6 Drill (Show a picture of a computer, a Father and a Son, with the phrase “use your computer” . Help the students try to ask)Ss: Could I please use your computer, Dad ? T: Sorry, I'm going to work on it now. (Write down “work on” on the blackboard and teach) (Show another picture of a TV set and the phrase “watch TV”) Ss: Could I please watch TV ? T: Yes, you can. But first you have to clean your room. Step7 Practise 2c (Role play) Act this dialogue out in pairs. Step8 Listening 1 (Play the recorder)Listen to the tape and check yes or no. Explain the phrase “stay out late, get a ride” and “ go to a meeting”. 2 Students listen again and find out the reasons 3 Check the answers Step9 Practice (Ask the students to make conversations with the chart on the screen.(Four information groups in the chart, two affirmations and two negations .) (Ask them act in pairs.) E.g. Peter: Could I stay out late, Dad? Dad: No, you can't. You have a test tomorrow. Step10 Sum up On the screen show what we have learned, including the important words, phrases and the key sentences.
