Step1 Greetings and Revision
1. Greet the whole class as usual.
2. Show some number cards to review the numbers 0---31. Let students say the numbers as quickly as they can.
Step2 Presentation
1. Present the months.
T: What month is it now? Who can tell me?

T: I have a calendar here, I’ll teach you

how to say the names of the twelve months of a year in English. Well, the first month of a year is January (Point to the calendar of “一月”. Read after me, please! J-A-N-U-A-R-Y, January.
Ss: J-A-N-U-A-R-Y, January.
T: And Jan. is short for January. Well, the second month of a year is......
(Teach the other months in the same way and ask students to remember all the names of the twelve months and know how to spell them.)
T: Now, I’ll play the recording to let all of you listen to the accurate pronunciation of the twelve months, then repeat them one by one.
2. Present the ordinal numbers.
T: One, two, three...are cardinal numbers. It means “基数词”. Now, we are going to learn ordinal numbers. It means“序数词”.
Look at the blackboard and I’ll show you some numbers.
Step3 Listening
1. T: There are three short conversations on page43,1b. I’ll play the recording, all of you should listen carefully and number the conversations.
Ss: Listen to the recording, then number the conversations. After that, check their answer.
2. T: Ask the students to practice the conversations they just listened with their partners, then make their own conversations use the target languages“---When is your birthday?”“---My birthday is...”
Let some pairs to act out their conversations in front of the class.
3. T: Look at your books on page44, there is a chart in 2a. Read these numbers one by one.
Step4 Talking
Let the students talk about the children’s birthday in 2c.
e.g. A: When is Alice’s birthday?
B: Her birthday is on September 5th.
Then ask them to work in pairs, and ask their partners about the birthdays in his or her family.
e.g. A: When is your father’s birthday?
B: His birthday is on....
Step5. Summary
Step6 Homework
Go over the names of the twelve months of a year and the ordinal numbers.
