This class we’ll learn to Use some modal verbs to make inferences Step I Modal verbs to make inferences 1must+V表示十分肯定的推测,意为“一定,肯定”,表示对正在发生的事情进行推测时用must+be+ving That hat must be Mary’s beause there is her name on it. 2may/ might/ could +V 多用于肯定 Think and say out modal verbs they have learned Ss listen and remember Then make sentences 教师活动 学生活动 备注(教学目的、时间分配等) 句,意为“也许,可能”might比may 和 could语气弱 eg:he may be angry because he looks unhappy. It could be Mary’s watch.It was on her desk. 3 can/could+V 意为“不可能” can’t比could语气弱   There is no light in her room . She can’t be at home. Step2 1a Key vocabulary words on the blackboard belong to (v+n/pron) eg:The book belongs to Tom. The CD does’t belong to her. author (n. a writer of a book or a play) picnic (n. A meal eaten out of doors) have/go on apicnic at the picnic Students look at the picture on page 34 and write down the things you see in the correct columns ih the chart.Point out the sample answers. Get Ss’ to complete the task on their own Step 3 1b This activity gives Ss’ practice in understanding the target language in spoken conversation Notes 1 the only kid at the picnic 2 listen to classical music Step 4 1c Ss’ practice the conversation in the picture above.
