There is still a long way to go. But we have to go to help these endangered animals. Now page 76. ■Language practice 1 Write sentences. There are six groups of words on page 76. Underline the words you hear. On page 76 you see a telephone dialogue between Katy and Samantha. They are talking about a film. And the film is about animals in danger. Now you are to listen and read. Underline the words you hear. All right, now. Read it again. This time, while reading try to cut(断句)/ the sentences into parts, blacken(涂黑) the predicates, shade(加影) the connectives and underline (划线)the expressions. Look at the paragraphs in Unit 2, Activity 2 to help you. The Lion is a mammal of the family Felidae. The male lion may weigh up to 250 kg. Females are much smaller, weighing up to 136 kg. In the wild lions live for around 10–14 years, while in zoos they can live over 20. Lions live in family groups. Lions are also in danger. Their home is becoming smaller and smaller. Our Chinese government is working hard to save lions. Snakes are cold blooded legless reptiles. A love of snakes is an ophiophilia, a fear of snakes is an ophidiophobia, a scientist studying snakes is an ophiologist. Snakes are in danger. People kill snakes for their meat or other things. We can raise snakes for their meat and others. We should learn to live peacefully with snakes. 12 Read and explain your paragraph(s) to the class. Answer the questions they have.
