Credit Card Crisis
A
At Earl’s Seafood in suburban Phoenix…
Carissa: This food is amazing, Joel! How did you find this place?
Joel: Oh, I have my ways.
Carissa: I know you’re amazing, but there are times I really wonder
how you can find places like this.
Joel: You just have to know how to ask the right questions. That’s all.
Carissa: Okay. Teach me your ways.
Joel: Well, in all honesty, this time I just had a friend from work tell me
about it. He took his wife here for their fifth 1)anniversary and said this
place rocked their world. I did study the menu and read some 2)reviews
online, though, too.
Carissa: Interesting.
Joel: If I am asking guys for restaurant recommendations, the really important
thing is to remember that it’s best to ask guys who have girlfriends or wives. It’s
usually a bad idea to ask a guy who hasn’t had a girlfriend in a while for a
recommendation.
Carissa: That’s a good thought. I like how you think, Joel.
Joel: Thanks. Anyway, want some 3)dessert?
Carissa: Sure, can we look at the dessert menu? I’m really in the mood for something
chocolate.
A
B
Joel: No problem. Waiter?
Waiter: Yes, sir?
Joel: We’d like to see the dessert menu.
Waiter: Of course. Here you are, sir.
Joel: Thank you. Here you go.
Carissa: Thanks… Yummm… They have a chocolate 4)mousse on the menu.
Joel: Is that what you want?
Carissa: Yep. Is that okay?
Joel: Totally. I’ll get a piece of cheesecake myself. Waiter?
Waiter: Yes, sir?
Joel: We’d like one slice of chocolate mousse and one slice of strawberry cheesecake.
Waiter: Of course. We’ll get those out to you right away…
Joel: Thank you.
Carissa: Thanks for buying dessert, Joel.
Joel: Thanks for looking so gorgeous!
B
C
Carissa: Anything big going on at work this next week?
Joel: Not really. I have a big energy sector presentation to my boss on Thursday,
but that’s fairly standard. You?
Carissa: My show choir is competing at a big state competition this weekend, so
we’re going to have lots of morning and after school 5)rehearsals this week. It’s
going to be quite busy. Tonight is like the calm before the storm.
Joel: I’m glad you could share it with me.
Carissa: Me, too.
Joel: I still don’t know how you have the patience for teaching singing and dancing
to so many high school kids. I absolutely couldn’t do that.
Carissa: Sometimes it’s overwhelming. For sure. Oh—our dessert is coming!
Waiter: Here you are—one chocolate mousse and one strawberry cheesecake.
Carissa: Thank you.
C
