自读考点
1. allow doing sth. 意思是“允许做某事”，doing的动作是主语所发出的。allow sb. to do sth.意思是“允许他人做某事”，主语与sb.不是同一人。
2. get sth. done意思是“请（他人）做某事”。该结构中的get是“使，让，请”之意，sth与done之间是动宾关系。类似的动词还有have, make等。例如：
I get / have my bike mended. 我（请人）修自行车。
3. instead of doing sth. 意为“不做某事”，instead of 后可接名词、代词或动名词。例如：
We will go to the mountain instead of having classes.我们将去山里，而不上课。
instead是副词，常置于否定句的句尾。例如：
I didn’t play basketball, instead. 我不踢足球。
4. so do we与me, too.两者都是来陈述与他人所做的事情一样，如果都不做某事，则用Neither do we或Me, neither。注意后者的人称用宾格。
5. by, until两者均可接时间点，前者是“到……时候”，后者是“到……为止”，在意思和用法上有相同之处。例如：
He didn’t go to bed until 10 o’clock.直到十点他才去睡觉。
He went to bed by 10 o’clock. 到十点钟他去睡觉。
从以上可知道，until与短暂的动作连用，该动作要用否定。
6. be strict with sb.意思是“对人严格”，be strict in sth.表示“对事严格”。
7. reply与answer作动词，前者正式、书面语使用得多，后者常用于口头，并且reply是不及物动词，后接“回复”的对象时，应有介词to。answer是及物动词，作名词表示“什么问题的答案”时，也带介词to。
8. achieve与come true都有“实现”的意思，前者的主语是人，“实现”的目标后接；后者的主语是“实现”的目标，不能再接宾语。例如：
My dream came true.我的梦想实现了。
I achieved my dream.我实现了梦想。
9. care about意思是“担心；关心”，只表示认为某事重要并产生兴趣或忧虑，常用于疑问句和否定句；后接从句时about要省略。
10. I think + 宾语从句，其否定式为I don’t think+从句，反意疑问句变宾语从句部分。
11. 含情态动词的被动语态，其结构为情态动词(not) + be +动词的过去分词，情态动词无人称和数的变化。
12. keep + 宾语+宾语补足语，宾语补足语可由形容词、介词短语、现在分词等充当。例如：
We must keep our classroom clean and tidy. 我们应当使教室保持干净和整洁。
Don’t keep me waiting for long. 不要让我久等。
13. the way to do / of doing sth. 意思是“做某事的方法”。例如：
The best way to learn / of learning English is practice. 学英语的最佳方法是练习。
14. need意思是“需要”，作情态动词后接动词原形。作实义动词有下面的结构：need to do sth.，need doing sth.。例如：
Does he need any help?他需要任何帮助吗？
The house needs repairing=The house needs to be repaired.房子需要修理。
15. both…and…意思是“……和……都”，是一个并列连词短语，连接两个不同的主语时，谓语动词始终用复数形式，其同义短语是not only…but also…，但该短语连接两个不同的主语时，谓语动词的数的形式要根据其相邻的人称，完全否定意思要由neither…nor…来表达。

三、任务型阅读。
Recently I was walking in town when I saw a group of school students in uniform. I was shocked to see that the girls’ skirts were very short and they were wearing a lot of make-up. The boys looked very untidy. Their shirts were dirty and some of them even had their shirtfronts open. I noticed too that Some of the students had pierced ears and noses, which I don’t think should be allowed at school.
And the other day, I was riding on the subway when I saw some boys from a local school. I know they were from this school because they were wearing the same uniform as my children. Instead of sitting quietly, these boys were making a lot of noise, chewing gum in a ugly manner, and using bad language. All the other passengers were looking at them and wondering how it was possible for these boys not to have any self-respect (自尊).
