Explain the words one by one and have students repeat several times. Write them down on the blackboard.
Ask different students to read their sentences.
Step 3 1B
Read the instructions to the class. Call students’ attention to the sample conversation. Invite a pair of students to read it to the class.
Step 4 2A
Call students’ attention to the chart. Tell them that this is a questionnaire about how confidents you are. Say, you are to listen to a conversation between Celia and Bill. Check the questions Celia asks. Play the tape three times.
Step 5 2B
Point to the list of answers underneath the headline I’d… ask different students to read them to the class. Say, this time circle the letter of the correct answer to each question. Play the tape again.
Step 6 2C
Point to the sample conversation in the box. Invite a pair of students to read it to the class. Get students to work in pairs. As the pairs work together, move around the classroom offering language and pronunciation support as needed.
Step 7 Summary
Point to the blackboard, say, we’re learned these vocabulary words and the target language.
Step 8 Homework
Get students to make as many conversations as they can using the questions and answers in the personality survey in Activity 2a.
Students give advice using sentences beginning with if I were you, I’d…or you should…
Read the words to the class, tell what each word means. For example, for the word outgoing, a student might say, outgoing means friendly.
Focus attention on the five sentences in the box. Think about which word would work best in each blank.
Listen to the instructions. Then look up the “questionaire” in the dictionary. Then listen to the tape, check the questions Celia asks.
Students listen carefully and circle Bill’s responses. Then read the tape script together.

Write down their conversations in the notebook.
