Teaching procedures:
Step 1: Revise the words.
ⅰAsk them some questions:
Ask: Do you know who usually works at schools?
Students may say: teachers, principals, students and so on(write these words on the board)
Ask: Anybody else? And do you know who goes there?
(Continue with other facilities, such as: supermarket, hospital, restaurant, office and hotel.)
ⅱ Divide the words into two categories.
a. People (waiter waitress shopper cashier doctor nurse cook diner teacher student)
b. Places (supermarket hospital restaurant school hotel theatre)
ⅲ Ask students to say these kinds of words as much as possible.
Step 2: Revise the useful expressions about how to make arrangement about visiting places and doing activities.
Say: If you want to visit friends, go to some places, you should make arrangements. How will you ask?
ⅰ. Give them some useful expressions to complete the task. Ask them to make a conversation about visiting places and doing activities.
● Where shall we meet?
● I’m sorry, I can’t make it.
● Is somebody coming, too?
● Can I bring my friend?
● What time does it finish?
● Where would you like to go?
● I’m looking forward to it.
ⅱ. Give them several minutes to write the conversation. Then ask some pairs to act it.
Step 3: To do a listening about the part of reading.
Ask students to close their books, then listen to the tape sentence by sentence. Let them write down the sentences. Ask them to repeat.
Step 4: Revise the grammar.
ⅰ. Draw a table on the board. Write down countable noun and uncountable noun. Ask students to fill in the table with nouns.

ⅱ.Ask the students to make a short conversation using ‘how many’ and ‘how much’
For example: A: How many books do you have? B: Ten.
A: How much bread do you need?
B: Two pieces of it.
ⅲ.Ask some pairs to act it.
ⅳ.Revise ‘no’ and ‘none’.
●no: adj.‘没有’no=not any
E.g. She has no friends.= She doesn’t have any friends.
●none: pron. ‘没有人或没有东西’(常作单数和复数)
E.g. None of them are (is) listening to you.
V. Revise the definite article ‘the’.
Ask students to think about how to use the definite article. Then choose some students to tell us. Write down the rules on the board.
●When we talk about the thing that is the only one in the world, we should use ‘the’,
such as: the sun太阳; the moon月亮; the earth地球.
