Step1. Lead in
T: I’d like to test your memory. What sport do Sandy and Millie often play? What sport does kitty like? What about Simon? What about Amy? Encourage Ss to answer like this:
Sandy and Millie often play volleyball. Kitty likes tennis. Simon likes football. Amy is good at swimming. Then ask and answer with the students according to their own information.
Step2. presentation
Show a photo of Beckham and ask: Who is this man? Encourage Ss to answer: This is Beckham. Then ask: What sport is he good at? He is good at football. And introduce more about him: He is a famous football star. He is from England, but now lives in the USA. Ask one student: Do you like Beckham? Then tell the Ss to ask and answer according to their own favourite sports stars like this:
S1:…, what sport do you like?
S2:I like…
S1:Who is your favourite player?
S2:My favourite player is…
S1:What club is he in?
S2:He is a member of…
S1:where does he come from?
S2:He comes from…
S1:Do you want to have dinner with him?
S2:…
S1:Oh I hope your dream comes true.
Step3 Practice
1.T: Today, we’ll know a football player named Li Hua, now listen to the tape and answer some questions:

(2)What does he do every day?
(3)What does he do in his free time?
(4)Why does he listen to music?
(5)What’s Li Hua’s dream?
2.Ask some students to read and translate the passage.
3.Finish partB1 on page21.
4.Finish part B2 on page21, first ask a student to write on the blackboard, then check with the whole class.
5.Finish the exercises on page22.
Step4.Practice
Ask Ss to introduce their own favourite sports stars.
