一. 自主复习
易混词语辨析:1.search, find, look for, find out
search 侧重“搜寻、搜索”的意思,范围较广,一般可用search for sth.或in the search of sth.。
find 强调“寻找”的结果,表“找到了”,后面直接跟名词。
look for 意思是“寻找”,强调“找”的动作,表示找没找到的东西,后面直接跟名词。
find out 意思是“找出,查出,查明”,多指通过调查、询问之后找出、发现无形的、抽象的东西,强调目的。
例:I volunteered to search for the missing child.
I find my book in the desk.
I’ll find out who has broken the window.
I am looking for my missing gloves.
2. 辨析:be able to, can,
be able to 会;能够。①有人称、时态和数的变化,后面接动词原形;②前面可以加一个助动词;③有多种时态;④可表示经过努力而做到的事。
can会;能够。①没有人称和数的变化,后面接动词原形;②不能与助动词连用;③只有一般现在时和一般过去时;④可以表示“请求或允许”。
例:Can you come tomorrow?
I’m able to do the work all by myself.
3. 辨析:be made of, be made from, be made in
be made of 由……制成,强调由原料经过物理变化形成。
be made from 由……制成,强调由原料经过化学变化形成。
be made in 在(某地)制造。
例:The machine is made in China.
Wine is made from grapes. 葡萄酒是用葡萄酿成的。
My overcoat is made of cotton. 我的大衣是棉花制造的。
4. 辨析: instead, instead of
Instead
instead代替,反而,可置于句末,其前不用逗号。也可置于句首,其后可用逗号,也可不用。
instead of instead of代替,而不是。是介词短语,后跟名词、代词、动名词,位于句中。
例:If you cannot go, let him go instead.
He will go to the meeting instead of me.
5. 辨析: whole, all
whole整个的,全部的,强调完整无缺,不可分割的整体。修饰单数可数名词,修饰复数名词时表示“整整的”,有冠词/指示代词/所有格等限定词时whole放于它们之后。
all整个的,全部的,强调各个部分组成的整体,可修饰不可数名词/可数名词复数。有冠词/指示代词/所有格等限定词时,all放在它们之前。
例:They told me the whole story.他们给我讲了整个故事。
Are all the students here today?今天所有的学生都到了吗?
6. 辨析:through, across, along
through穿过,通过,强调从内部“穿过”,含义与in有关。
across为介词,指从这边到那边平面“通过、横过”,含义与on有关,“动词 walk/go/run/swim 等 + across” 相当于 cross,常与street,bridge,river 等连用。
along 意为“沿着”,指沿着一条直线在水平方向上运动。
如:The thief got in through the window.
He walked across the road to the other side.I saw him running along the road.我看见他正沿着这条路跑。
7. 辨析:voice, noise, sound
voice 一般指人的声音,说话、唱歌的声音。除了有时可指鸟的声音外,很少指动物的声音。
noise “噪音,喧闹声”,指不悦耳的吵闹声如嘈杂声、噪音
sound 泛指自然界的各种声音。
如:The girl has a beautiful voice.这个女孩嗓音很美。
Light travels much faster than sound。光的传播速度比声音快得多。
Don’t make any noise!别吵闹!
8. 辨析:shoot, shoot at
shoot 意为“打死(某人或某物)”(强调结果)。
shoot at 意为“向(某人或某物)开火/射击”(强调动作)。
如:A hunter shot a bird.猎人击中了一只马。
Look! A hunter is shooting at a bird. Can he shoot it?
瞧!猎人正在瞄准一只鸟,他能击中吗?
9. 辨析:opinion, advice
opinion 作可数名词,意为“意见;看法;观点”,指对某一事物的看法、意见。
advice 作不可数名词,意为“忠告;意见;建议”,指提出善意的或建设性的忠告或意见;亦指向有经验的人征求意见。
如:You should ask the opinion of the doctor, 你应当征求医生的意见。
Marx gave some advice on how to learn a foreign language.
对于如何学习外语,马克思提出了一些建议。
10. 辨析:fit, suit
fit 意为“适合某人,合某人的身”,指衣服、鞋等在尺寸、大小上的合适。
suit 意为“适合”,指衣服、鞋等在颜色、款式、外观、身份、口味等方面适合某人,也可指发型适合某人。
如:Your clothes fit well.你的衣服很合身。
I don’t think these clothes fit you
我认为这些衣服你穿着大小不合适。
The color of the cloth suits a woman at my wife’s age.这布的颜色适合我妻子这样年龄的妇女穿。
