Open your book at page19. Study the picture carefully and read the dialogue. Then please write down how the students in the picture get to school in the morning.

B: Well, I usually run but sometimes I walk.
A: How long does it take?
B: It takes about 10 minutes to walk and 15 minutes by running. What about you?
A: I get to school by taxi, sometimes I take my mother’s car.
B: Oh, how long does it take?
A: It takes around 30 minutes by car and 25 minutes by taxi.
A: How do you get to work?
B: Well, I usually ride my bike but sometimes I take the bus.
A: How long does it take?
B: It takes about 25 minutes to go by bus and 30 minutes by bike. What about you?
A: I get to school on foot, sometimes I take a bus, too.
B: Oh, how long does it take?
A: It takes around 25 minutes to go on foot and 10 minutes by bus.
A: How do you get to Shanghai?
B: Well, I usually go by train but sometimes I take the bus.
A: How long does it take?
B: It takes about one hour to go by train and three hours by bus. What about you?
A: I get to Shanghai by plane, sometimes I take my sister’s car.
B: Oh, how long does it take?
A: It takes around 30 minutes by plane and five hours by car.

In pairs, read the dialogue in the box first. Then suppose you use two kinds of transportation to get to school. Now make your own dialogues to tell your partner how you get to school, using the phrases in 1a.

A: First, I walk to the bus stop. Then I take the bus to school.
A: How does your father get to his school?
B: Well, he walks for ten minutes to Bus No. 11. He takes the bus and gets off at Da Ying Pan. Then he walks again for five minutes to his classroom.
