一.Teaching aims :
1. The aim of knowledge:
⑴ Enable the students learn the following words and phrases: until, medicine, hearing, smell, towards, loss, chairperson, sincerely, live alone, be good at hunting other animals , make medicine, work as a team, loss of living areas, have very good eyesight, hearing and smell, be friendly towards each other, look lovely on me, lose their lives
⑵ To learn some sentences
We think we should help these animals.
I don’t think that’s right.
If no one buys furs, then people won’t kill wild animals any more.
2. The aim of ability:
⑴ Get some useful information from the tapescript.
⑵ To describe different animals according to personal preferences.
3. The aim of emotion:
Educate students to protect wild animals and our nature.
二.The kind of the class:
This class is the first Teaching period. The main points of this class are to get some information from the tapescript and describe different animals according to personal preferences.
三.Teaching methods:
Change the students’ attitudes towards English learning from passive to positive and active. This class improves their abilities of some language points . The activities of the students are the main purpose. Students should take part in the activities positively and describe different animals.
四.Teaching aids:
1. Make full use of electrical audio-visual aids to help the teacher teaching.
2. Some pictures, tape recorder
五.Key and difficult points:
1. How to use words and expressions to describe animals.
2. How to select the right information among the listening context.
六.Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Revision
1. Greetings and use ‘because’ and ‘because of’ to make sentences.
2. Encourage the students to remind the wild animals they have learned in this unit. (show pictures)
3. Get the students discuss:
(1) Which is your favorite wild animal?
(2) What are they like?
(3) What do they like eating?
(4) What else do you know about it?
Step 2 Lead-in
1. Show some pictures to the students and present the new words in this lesson.
2. Encourage the students to talk about what they like about wolves and tigers.
Step 3 Listening
1. Ask Ss to read the two fact files by themselves, getting ready for listening.
2. Play the tape (the text P68 Tapescript) for the students to fill in the blanks.
3. Play the tape again for Ss to check the answers.
4. Solve the students’ questions.
Step 4 Practice
1. Ask students to make up similar dialogues using information from the fact sheets in pairs. Before the students make up dialogues, give them a dialogue as a model.
A: Which animal do you like best?
B: I like pandas best.
A: What do pandas like eating?
B: They like eating bamboo shoots and leaves.
A: What’s the character of pandas?
B: They usually live alone
2. Get several pairs to act out their own dialogues.
3. Let the Ss finish the Text P69 A2 in pairs. Choose a student to read it, then check answers and read together.
Step 5 Presentation
1. T: We should help wild animals. They are our best friends. How can we protect them?
Let the Ss discuss the ways of protecting wild animals.
2. T: Millie is talking with her mother about a way to protect wild animals. What is it? Are you interested in it?
Play the tape (the Text P69B) and let the Ss listen and answer questions. Then read in pairs.
3. Show pictures of sharks, then give a sample conversation. Let the Ss make their own dialogues.
S1: Jane, I think you should stop eating shark’s fin.
S2: Why? It tastes delicious.
S1: Many sharks are killed because people eat shark’s fin soup. I think it’s wrong to eat it. Sharks have a right to live.
S2: If I don’t eat it, someone else will eat it.
S1: If everyone stops eating shark’s fin soup, then hunters won’t kill sharks any more.
S2: Maybe you are right. OK, I’ll stop eating shark’s fin soup.
Step 6 Consolidation and Discussion
Give the Ss some points and some information.

教学后记:
Electrical audio-visual aids to help the teacher teaching. It will make the class more interesting and the Ss learning more easily. I think the efficiency of the study can be improved greatly.
