2.通过中心话题“让学校变得更美好”，让学生意识到在学校要与同学和平共处。

4.能够通过总结归纳“and”的用法来形成自己的学习策略。
5.引导学生关注生活，培养学生热爱和平的美好品质。
【教学重难点】
重点：掌握本课所学词汇president，provide等和短语the student council学生会/provide...for...为……提供……/in the end最后，最终/reach agreement达成一致。
难点：掌握并列连词and的用法。

　　一、创设情境，切入主题
Step 1：Warming up
T：Is there a student council in our school？What does it do?
Ss：Yes，there is a student council in our school.It works to make school a better place.
T：Who do you think can work towards peace？Can you do it too?
Ss：I think anyone can work towards peace and of course I can do it too.
T：Yes！You are right.All of us should try our best to work towards peace.
设计意图：以对话方式导入新课，吸引学生的注意力，锻炼学生的口语表达能力。

　　二、展开过程，探究新知
Step 2：Presentation
1.学习本课的新单词president，provide，council，organization，disagree，讲解单词的意思并用单词造句，要求学生能准确记忆这些单词。
如：president会长；总统，国家主席；董事长
As we all know，Xi Jinping is the president of our country.众所周知，习近平是我国的主席。
2.学习新短语the student council学生会/provide...for...为……提供……/in the end最后，最终/reach agreement达成一致，用词组造句并要求学生能够理解并熟练运用。
如：the student council学生会
Do you know the student council in our school？你知道咱们学校的学生会吗？
3.总结并列连词and的用法：
and是并列连词，可以连接语法作用相同的词、短语或句子，表示并列或对称的关系，可翻译为“和”、“并”、“又”、“兼”等。
4.读课文：听录音并跟读。学生反复听磁带并跟读。第一次听，要求学生大概理解课文的意思。第二次听改为一句一句听，仔细听出每句话的内容。通过反复听磁带并跟读培养它们听、说的能力。
设计意图：加强学生对本课重难点的掌握，丰富学生的知识。
Step 3：Drill
Do Exercise 1，Exercise 2 and Exercise 3 on Page 101.
设计意图：加深学生对本课的理解，掌握“provide...for”这一典型词组并锻炼学生的思考判断能力以及对重点知识点的掌握。
　　三、布置作业
Work in groups of three to complete this activity.Student A writes the first part，student B writes the second part，and student C combines the two parts with a conjunction(and，but，or，so).
Example：
Student A：We are friends.
Student B：Sometimes we have disputes.
Student C：We are friends，but sometimes we have disputes.
