After many verbs, we may use either an infinitive or v-in

3、g e.g., hate: We may hate to do homework or hate doing homework (same thing). With some verbs, the meaning of what we are saying may change, depending on whether were using v-ing or infinitive. An example is the verb stop: I stopped to eat = I stopped for the purpose of getting something to eat. I s

4、topped eating = I am not eating (I have stopped doing it).But there is no pattern (no fixed rule) by which one can determine which verbs take only v-ing, which take only infinitives, and which can take either. Now read the sentences in the box and try to finish activities 1 and 2. Step II Language i
