1. Read through the example sentences in the box with the whole class .
2. Ask them to identify the elements which have been highlighted. (the verbs for two clauses of the first conditional ) .

一）时态呼应
一般来讲，复合句都要遵循主、从句时态呼应规律，状语从句也不例外。即主句用现在时，从句也用现在时；主句用过去时，从句也用过去的某种时态。具体地讲，主句是一般现在时(包括祈使句和含有情态动词can, may, must等)，从句也用一般现在时。例如：
Have a good rest if you are tired. 如果你累了，就好好休息一会儿吧。
You must see the doctor if you are ill. 如果你生病了，就必须去看医生。
这里提醒大家特别要注意：如果主句是一般将来时态，这时从句不可以用将来时态，而要用一般现在时。例如：
I won’t go there with you if it rains tomorrow.
如果明天下雨的话，我就不和你一起去那儿了。
If we do nothing, there will be only standing room on the earth.
假如我们不采取任何措施，地球上将只有站的地方了。
二）主从句的位置
大多数情况下，从句可以位于主句之前，也可以位于主句之后。不过从句在前时，主从句之间必须用逗号隔开。例如：
Please tell me if he comes back. = If he comes back, please tell me.
如果他回来了，请告诉我一声。

B . Ask the students to do this individually , then check with a partner .

Step 7 Work in pairs .
A. Read the problems and give advice in Activity 6 .
1. Ask the students to read through the problems individually .
2. Ask them to get into pairs and discuss them , and decide on the advice the would give .
3. They can then discuss their ideas with another pair .
4. Call back suggestions from the whole class ; try to get a whole-class discussion going .
B. Read the problems and give advice in Activity 7.
C. Choose one of the problems and write a reply. Say what will or won't happen in each possible situation.

1. Read through the passage with the students .
2. Look at the picture and talk something about the picture .
3. Ask and answer some questions .
Step 10 Module task: Writing a problem page for a magazine
1. Work in groups .Think of and write a problem .
2. Work in groups . Read your problem to the group . Discuss advice for each problem . Decide who is going to write the advice for each problem .
3. Put the problems and the advice on a poster . Display the “ problem page” in the classroom for other students to read .
